Just read this entire thread. Would have read it sooner if I had realized it was a local boat. Can't wait to see this thing run. When's it going in the water?

Yeah will probably go out the second weekend also after the R.P.
Dougs changing the cam in his motor, then we plan on another few days on the dyno around the first of May sometime.
He's waiting on the second blower to get done then try to shoehorn them into the Tiger.

Can someone explain this to me, in my feeble brain, I'm assuming the higher the Octane the more unstable the gas is to detonation. Am I wrong on this? Or is it the higher the Octane the more it can be compress without detonating?

thanx

Higher octane allows higher compression-boost levels before detonation.
Get into too high compression for the octane it detonates, lifts the heads, blows gaskets, cracks pistons etc.

Default detonation

like to say we havent seen any detonation at all on our 58 dyno pulls so far, making over 1400 hp on the "good" ethanol 93 octane, kinda makes u think we still have a soft tune up..... for those u dont know detonation basically like shawn says isnt good, think of your motor having little explosions irratically, not the fire of the cylinder per hole.........will give u a bucket of parts...in a performance engine or boat u may hear a lil pinging or missing....if ur motor does that after running hard and then stops, u may be in for a lil surprise....

At Least someone posted some pictures!!! Come on guys post some video or pictures,, fruck this is getting boring. You'll have change more cams and run more dyno pulls than Mercury did on there new 1350 all new from the ground up turbo charged package. I could give two chits about dyno pulls put the mofos in the Tiger and claim that fastest Cigarette award!!!! How much power can you find in a stick anyway?? Just saying
