Do a search here under "cat insurance", topic has been discussed many times

Jamie B. 12-30-2009 02:08 PM

Yep, and be prepared to grab your ankles if this is your first cat and havent owned many boats in general.

I can probably get you covered through Markel. Please feel free to call me or you can submit a quote request through our website: www.epboatins.com

Either way, I will be happy to get you a quote and discuss your options.

Thanks!

Good Luck! Don't know your boating history so advice is... Lots of Lube....Lots and Lots of Lube. Did you buy the cat yet? I did the same thing, bought the boat first then thought about insurance, WHO KNEW?

For the big boats there is only one I know of. Grahm Neil in canada. I believe he uses Loyds of London but.

I was watching powerboat racing on Mav TV a couple days ago and saw the Geico comercial. The comercial shows the Geico cat sreaming across the water and says something about powersports insurance...it would make you think they insure cats

fireboatpilot 12-30-2009 09:14 PM

Yea you would think so but NO! I wonder if they insure their own boats?

Geico needs to step up and cover some higher HP boats, last time i checked they would not even cover V hulls over 80 mph

Cat Insurance? Try Chartis/AIG

They might be inclined to write it as part of a bigger personal insurance package (high value home/cars/umbrella/jewelry, etc). We've been quite successful getting them to write exotic boats/cars, etc. Google AIG Preferred Client or Chartis. They can direct you to a local agent. The premiums are much lower and coverages are much better than what you can get with a "stand-alone" boat policy. Good luck.

We have AIG Preferred everything, house cars jewerly, umbrella, etc.. and they would cover the sea ray and fountain cc - not only would they not touch the cigarette, but also specifically excluded it from our umbrella!

I went with Sy Goldberg at Total Dollar. He was $300 cheaper than Stacey. Don't know for sure if he insures cat's but I can't imagine that he wouldn't.

Jeff P31 01-06-2010 06:34 PM

Please keep us posted , I was thinking about buying a cat in the near future and never thought about the insurance. Jeff

good luck my man, like they were telling u before(lots of lube)
i
i got a 30 foot cat with twins out boars and is sitting in my house without insururance and i live in hollywood Florida.
not a good situation, i had to pay the loan off or else they were forthplace insurance to the boat.
now i chain my two neopolitan masstiff to the trailer at night and i just install security cameras in my property.
try Bristoll West insurance company and see what they tell you:bsflag:
