Installing trim tabs
I just bought a set of Eddie marine trim tabs and am getiing reading to install them. I am going to make a template out of 1" alum so the mounting holes are straight. I am told to use silicone for where the mounting holes and trim lines come in. Anyone recommend a brand or type to use? Also where the indicator cables mount thru the transom. I've seen them mounted on other boats up as high as the thru hull exhaust. I personally dont like the to see the cables and wanted to mount them as low to the water line as possible. And ideas or experience?

I would use 3m 4200 to seal them up. My cables are underwater on the K-planes and they don't leak at all. Not sure who would make a similiar fitting? Maybe Lavorsi?

also keep in mind that you dont mount tabs flush with the edge of the running surface. Mine are an inch up, Donzi factory mounted 280 K planes. I have seen them as close as a quarter inch or so.

I remember seeing a thread about two years ago of an install of some K-Planes. The author of the thread was using some type of guide while drilling to ensure the holes where exactly 90 degrees. It had pictures and everything, been looking for two weeks and can't find the thread.
Anyone know the tool that was used or know the thread I'm referring to?
thanx
