GPS Bargain

My main GPS is a fixed mount Gamin 182 but I have been wanting a small hand held for back up and when I am not in the boat.

Yesterday my wife found, at Sam's Club, a Magellan 330X hand held. It is a chartplotter with WAAS and comes with a PC cable MapSend CD and mounting bracket and has 16mb of memory. The price was $199.00 and a $50.00 rebate brought it down to $149.00. Great price for a handheld chartplotter. I have been playing with it and it is a nice little unit. The screen is small but for occasional use and as a back up it is great.

nasty the bike is runnning well. And i am really enjoying riding it. SO gfar no close calls. It pretty funny i bought it offa buddy of mine and he has a harley (for sale currently, to be replaced witrh an aprilia) and teh wear marks on eth tires showed he pretty much roa dit straight up within 3 days of ridign it I have doubled the width of the wear pattern, out to within 1/4" of the edges :D

he was about a 1" frome th edges. I'm not exactly even sure why he is gettinga faster bigger bike he didn't really lean the r6....

oh well my gain i took some pics i will post them later :D

By the way, at my Sam's Club the GPS was in the automotive section.

read the fine print! Make sure it is WAAS usable and not just WAAS capable. Big difference. If in fact it is WAAS usable, buy it!

Big WAAS label on the package and when I started it up,it found the WAAS sattelite very quickly. I don't know how they can sell it at that price but bet they will not last long. I also checked the software and it is the latest version had a date of Dec 2001 on the screen and version 2.10

GPS SPEEDO

Just a quick note Gaffrig GPS speedos do not work with Garmin 182's. Gaffrig's software has not been updated

Went out today and picked up my gps. Pretty neat. Really don't have a use for one but I will think of a few. Mark fishing spots, deep water crossovers from channel to channel. The bad part is I didn't get or see anything about the 50 dollar rebate.:( I can see my project at work tonight is read the manual and learn how to use it.

Padraig 04-18-2002 01:13 PM

If you purchased it at Sam's Club...it should be on the receipt. You can also go to The Sam's Club web site, under Rebates, and get your rebate on line. Don't miss out on the $50 that's money that should be spent on gasoline.

Boating Fool 04-18-2002 02:43 PM

Thanks for pointing that out. I will be sure to turn that in. It aint gas money. It's BEER MONEY. Weekends can get expensive on a liquid diet.:D :D

Boating Fool 04-18-2002 07:14 PM

Just found on Magellangps.com another rebate for 30. Don't know if you can get both but won't hurt to try.
