you can only get so many thermal units out of a gal of gas [93]
and im sure that your engines are at that max. range.

HotPursuit 01-14-2010 09:22 PM

Someone had mentioned 10K to enter,,if i'm putting up that kind of green I would rather loss it racing the boat.
I could give a rats as* about keyboard and dyno racing.

I can relate to what Don said!! He also raced to Bimini and back. My top speed is not going to be much over 150 mph but if any of you guys want to do the endurance part of this deal to Bimini and back I'm in!! Plus its a race instead of another poker run and we can wear Orange helmets:drink: Something different maybe? No betting just fun!! Unless someone wants to bet:)

And if any of you guys are up for a real long one, come to the NE and do the round Long Island race in September just like the good ole days!! There's records to be broken so go get em!! A full 262 miles in all types of water conditions!

IMO
Is it not unspoken race at Jacksonville, Havasu, & LOTO and I am sure that a few others are races for the truly fast cat's. If you are in front of one of these poker runs than you are one of the fastest. Finish the run without breaking and you have an impressive setup that we should all admire, no matter what hull your running new or old. What am I missing I feel like these should pretty much prove the point of who spends the most money on speed (or who is the fastest) That being said who was first and who finished the run?
Now the Dyno challenge seems to only prove what most people have already said on here, you can not make 1500+hp on 93. The people that think otherwise should involve themselves in the Dyno challenge. For those that choose to walk the line of breaking before the end of a run and think 1200 to 1499 is the answer they may want to add themselves to a few of the above poker run registries to see if they can run hard and finish.

I am thinking dyno challege for informative purposes like does your 1200 make 1200 compared to this one. I also like what Gatorone said about after the challenge put the motors in the boat and then run 200 miles. That would really see what builders have there stuff together. And a plus for them is they could then charge more if it worked.

I also think different companies building motors dynoing them and then putting them in one test boat obviously this could take a while and the companies would have to have extra motors to spare. But this would be the most even playing field to compare motors obviously not a perfect comparison but it would be pretty fair.

Boat weight gears props rpms slip = speed

That is the truth good example is the super cat light class same length skaters, mti, or doug wright will run away from one another just b/c of set up.
But none of this is new just the wheels turning over winter.

know what jim, this staement says it all. I won my class in the first offshore challenge at an avg speed of 62.8 mph in my tiger. I wasnt the fastest, i didnt go over 5K the whole trip as my MDG performance motors only had 4hours on them, I ran the whole event at 4800 rpms...the reason I got the trophy is I finished!

Good for you!! Congrats!! A lot of races come down to who saved their boat until the end. I'll probably start out a little slower this year if I go.
