Funny, that was word for word out of last months Powerboat except for the line about the race moving to CA. Instead it said that A/C would provide a second NE stop.

I'll check with a higher authority for the real poop.

Sit tight.

You're right, Ron...I also read the article which made it to print, but I do NOT recall coming across that little blurb mentioning CA. Wonder when they snuck that in there?

I am waiting for a response from Dave P as he is the promoter for the A/C race and should be able to provide and accurate answer.

The scary thing is that Powerboat must have gotten this info from someone within APBA or they wouldn't be writing BS for the hell of it.

I reread the Powerboat article and it said "A/C will provide the second NE stop for the APBA tour." Now it says, it has moved.

Never a dull moment.

I called Heather at the APBA main office and she said that the change to CA is still tentative and should be confirmed in a week or two. She added that she didn't know how Powerboat got the info as it is not finalized.

Long and short, sounds like it is true. She DID NOT deny it.

****!

Well……….I have been a pretty popular person the last 24hrs while traveling on the road! I’m sorry I have not been able to log on to get back to people sooner!

I’m sorry that I did not have the chance to send out an announcement prior to the Powerboat Magazine article that appeared on the Powerboat website I have been traveling extensively and we (APBA and NJPPC) did not want to make an announcement until some final details were known.

Yes, the Atlantic City APBA Offshore Race has been cancelled. It is unfortunate that the Trump organization very recently decided not to host an offshore race for the 2002 season. As many of you who are familiar with our Atlantic City Poker Run know, many of the casino organizations in Atlantic City can be quite “interesting” to deal with to say the least. What we may perceive to be fact today may not be fact tomorrow. The casino industry is without a doubt one of the most challenging industries to deal with. I think that if we had the opportunity last year to produce the race in Atlantic City, a lot more people in the casino industry would have been more supportive of the event. But no one could have imagined what took place last September.

To the people who enthusiastically supported us I would like to say thank you for your support. The support and enthusiasm was way beyond our initial hopes. Very rarely do you run into a situation where you have almost too many volunteers!

To Mike Allweiss, Carrie Rassmusen and all of the people at APBA, I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to pursue an APBA race in NJ and the professionalism you exuded in dealing with us. You were 100% honest and supportive of our organization and we will continue to be 100% supportive of APBA Offshore. If the time comes again for a race to be pursued in NJ, we will be up for the challenge.

To all of the APBA racers who planned on coming to NJ, I am sorry you won’t have the opportunity to race off of the Jersey shore and whatever inconvenience this has caused.

I am a strong believer in what Peter Hledin has been quoted saying: “Nobody wants to fail, even though when you do fail you know you have pushed the envelope and you have learned something. You can’t be successful all the time. Sometimes failing is better than succeeding, because if you always succeed you really haven’t taken a risk.”

It is not the first time we have failed and it will not be the last. We continue to exceed our expectations in many different areas. We have a great season ahead of us: 4 Poker Runs (Atlantic City is close to being sold out), Radar Shootout and our newest event ROAR AT THE SHORE Hot Car & Hot Boat Show.

We have been in existence for only 4 years and I think we have accomplished more than anyone expected (including myself! Hahaha)

We will continue to push the envelope as no setback will set us back.

Just my thoughts...NJPPC&APBA apparently did not fail us! Once again, the CASINO dealt a bad hand. We all lose... Does HARRAH'S have any interest in OFFSHORE any more??? 777

I had a feeling that if there was a problem the casino "hosts" were it..

Damned shame..I know alot of the racers were looking forward to coming to AC last year..2002 would've been a good one!!

Bummer it isn't happening here in Jersey
If it was going to happen or if there was some way to make it happen I am sure that Dave and NJPPC would have made it happen. No doudt in my mind one of the best clubs I have joined in awhile!!!!!
The only thing I can not figure out is the decision made to take it to California. Bad move this year in my own thoughts. Can imagine many teams making that hike out there for that one. You got a schedule on the East Coast of the USA and now as a replacement for AC you put it on the other side of the country.
Blows my mind for damb sure!!!!!!
Maybe alot of pro series teams will be making that hike but not to many f1.f2 or P class guys I am sure. Asking guys to spend BIG $$$$$$ to travel across the nation for this one. Hope it works out.
