How cold has it been in florida last 3 weeks?

Has it been cold enough to freeze a boat in pensacola the last two to three weeks? Or in Tallahassee ? Looking at a boat to buy that has been in both places. I know a cold snap went through, but was it cold enough to freeze a Volvo block? Are Volvo's closed cooling like merc's? 8.1?

Thanks Derek

it was in the teens to low 20's several nights in a row with highs in the 30's.

Thanks, I did find out that it was plenty cold to freeze a motor. I found 20 for a low in pensacola and 13 for a low in tallahassee.

Not cold enough to freeze any engine here in Tallahassee... the temp might drop for a bit, but un-exposed areas, like engine compartments are pretty safe here. Which boat are you looking at?

Ya I went on a cruise from jan 3 - jan 10. When we came back into port in FTL we had left the patio door to our room cracked the night before and we were freezing when we woke up. It was in the low 30's.

Because im in Miami and it's not suppose to be no where near that cold in S.fl or central fl :grinser010:

I'm in Navarre (20 miles east of Pensacola) and it got plenty cold... I actually drained my block for the first time ever. I'm pretty sure I would have had problems if I didn't. What kind of Cobalt did you buy?

bullittcustoms 01-25-2010 10:46 AM

Bought a 2006 272 out of pensacola. It has been there for 3 weeks and in tallahasse before that. I should know this morning. Anyone know if a 8.1 Gi is closed cooling or is it optional?

Thanks, Derek

alindquist 01-26-2010 07:22 AM

Cool boat, my buddy had on 07 272 last year with that same set-up. Right around 60mph. I'm pretty sure that it's not stock closed cooling but there are more knowledgeable people on here that can answer that question. Make sure you do a compression test and check to make sure there isn't water in the oil... It did get pretty cold for a few weeks. Good luck.

Derek,

It gets cold here, but never enough to do the damage you are talking about. I've lived here for 20 yrs... including 89 when it snowed 5 inches.. Still, the daylight hours are warm enough to thaw things out pretty quickly. We have sprinkler systems/ pool pumps...plumbing..etc... protected only by a shelter and have never had a problem.
