anyone else in the mid west go boating this weekend?
 

so last year we did a snowmobile poker run here on the river that hits a few of the boatclubs we frequent in the summer. At one of the stops and a few beers in i looked at my friend John and said we need to build something different for the 2010 run. well out came the bar napkins and pencils and this is what we came up with. I picked up a Ski-Doo Escapade (from Packinairs fleet) and we got a doaner boat from a local yard and went monster garage on this thing. First there was Chip Foose and Overhaulin' . . . . . . we have KEELHAULIN' :D


Not only are we coast guard compliant with full nav and 360 lighting but we are also Michigan trails compliant with headlights, tail and break lights. All dash gauges function as well as steering wheel works the front skis. It actually does about sixty but with all ice and no snow it was a handfull. Track was fully studed (thanks to 2TrickRick) but we removed the rear skis carbides thinking the they would fight the front ones, gonna putt those back on and see how it works, she spins out pretty easy if your not a head of it. First test drive was Friday and the poker run was sunday. Went great and this thing was a hit wherever we went. Pretty much stole the show . . . .ahhhh the shameless art of self promotion :D :D :cool:

dock space wasnt to hard to find and we even had a chance to toss an anchor and raft off for a bit.

all in all i think we blended in with the sleders pretty well but damn even in witner we couldnt get away from the blow boaters :D

I was actually gonna bring mine but it was 100% ice and no snow. In fact we had a warm spell a week ago that killed most of the ice we had and it re froze just this week with a bitter cold snap leaving it kinda chunky. There was only a few dozen sleds and atv on the ice and most did it by car. We were aprehensive at first but after a few beers that ice thikened right up :D

Read about the 'situation' with that boat on GLO. I can't believe it actually sat there until it froze in place, or that whoever runs that marina/yacht club didn't bother to pull it out and put it on blocks or something.

And that purple thing is quite the contraption :D

Heard the guy passed away last summer. What was the story you got? Yea I cant believe no one at the marina could take a few minutes an pull this thing out for the family (unless the guy was an A**hole lol).

This thing was pure monster garage style. We had a lot of fun with it, theres a few more snowmobile runs around here that we might crash :drink:

Thats funny cuz as we were flying across the open . . . . errr . . . ice i looked at my buddy and said we rescued this poor little boat from the bone yard it had probably been sitting in for years and in its whole life had probably never gone this fast :drink:

Big snowmobile/hovercraft/run what ya brung meet, had a blast they even let us run it down the dragstrip. Must have made twenty laps around the lake in this thing lol.

The guy that made this clip was a friend of Johns and was on a expertly restored Merc Sno Twister. (really sweet one to :cool:)

dont know who the girls are people were jumpin in for pics all day. There was some big hover crafts up there as well.
