Which CARB Barry Grant VS Holley HP
Hey guys,
Just ready to pull the trigger on a couple of carbs for my built 496's. I am at a stand still though trying to decide on the Barry Grant 850 down leg OR Holley 950 HP.
Any input or would be helpful. Need to decide before going to the dyno next week.
Thanks,
John
PS I am leaning towards the BG

Just curious, but why are you considering going 100cfm lower on the BG?

I don't have any experience with the Holley HP's, but I can say that Barry Grant's customer service and product support was excellent. My friend Mike bought one of their first generation carbs after they started using their own castings and they bent over backwards to correct issues and help him get it working properly on his application. Once working the carb was reliable an never failed (and looked cool too).
Just curious, but why are you considering going 100cfm lower on the BG?

getrdunn - give champion performance and have your engine specs handy. I forget offhand who does their carbs but they are all custom to your engine. Saves valuable time on the dyno. Last two engines of mine were nearly spot on from the start.

I hear you on this but was just a little confusssssed on the cfm ratings for carbs. Especially seeing what a 850 BG carb flows. And then seeing the Holley 950 HP uses the 650/850 base plate.
