hey guys ive just bought a pantera 28 less power
what would you guys reccomend i use for power that isint going th break the bank with resonable speed
i have have a new 300cummins/mercruiser diesel and surface drive and was thinking of using that or i also have a 440yanmar diesel
let me know your oppinion and what speed you think i would get

i forgot to mention that i intend to keep the boat as light as possible ie no cabin interior stereo systems im going to try and lighten the boat as much as possible

I don't know if I'd use the surface drive. Pantera 28's need bow lift, at least in the single engine pleasure version.
For reference, a newer pleasure 28 runs about 70mph. My 1996 ran 67-68 with around 550hp.

Well, a diesel will not be the lightest engine... for sure.

im from ireland
im will be using the boat for inshore racing only and the only rule is that it must be diesel
the mercruiser 300 weighs in at 420kgs 700lbs of torque 3900rpm
and the yanmar 440 weighs 500 kgs 1200lbs of torque 3500rpm
i know a bravo one will work on the merc but with the yanmar i dont have much of a choice with that amount of torque
i dont have any pics yet as i dont have the boat home yet but i will post a few pics when i recieve the boat

Drive, if you can get the drive all the way down on the transom would be the best, you mite also need some rocker plates to help with bow lift but you never know maybe not ,with the weight of that motor in the stern of the boat i would think you mite get the bow lift . but keep that drive as low as possable . i think they make a " drop box " that help bring the drive down some ,
call pepe or jo at pantera they would be more then happy to talk with you about the boat .
