Changing Guage Colors

Are there any companies out there that make a cover so that a guy could change the color of the rims on the guages without haveing to replace the entire guage. I'm not talking about the bezels, just the guage itself.

Wildman_grafix 02-16-2010 09:46 AM

I sent mine back to Livorsi, they changed them and the lens. Look great.

Me too! Went from white rims to SS. I think the cost was under $10 each a couple yrs ago, plus they go thru the gauge and check it out.

Wildman_grafix 02-16-2010 12:30 PM

It was $16 each for the small ones, $30 for the tachs and $80 for the speedo.

Price went up a little, still pretty cheap. You don't realize how unclear your lens are until you get new ones.

Thanks for the feedback. Sending them back sounds like the way to go.

Just sent my DataTach prop slip gauge back to livorsi for a rim swap. It's gonna cost $26.00. Mind you this is a 5" gauge!

Does gaffrig offer the same option? Many of the posts here including mine were referring to livorsi.

No they wanted to sell me all new gauges but they did give me a great price.
My gauges are gaffrig

US1 Fountain 02-17-2010 06:15 PM

Fountain used Gaffrig Precision, which are now Livorsi.

Gaffrig Performance, is todays Gaffrig

Mine, before and after:

They can change the back ground color too, I bought a NIB GPS speedo and sent it back. Had the ring and back ground changed and it was pretty reasonable.

My guages are Gaffrig Precision Instruments which are Livorsi. Due to a lawsuit, they had to change the name about 5 years ago.

If the guages say Gaffrig Performance, they are the current Gaffrig guages.

hotjava66 02-24-2010 07:08 PM

So if your guages say Gaffrig Precision Instruments you can send them to Livorsi? I checked their website and didnt see anything for rebuild, where do you look or do you have to call. Mine are Gaffrig Precision and I really want to have them redone. Also is there anyone selling nice looking marine toggle switches? Thanks!

Wildman_grafix 02-24-2010 09:47 PM

Just call them and ask for service.

That is pretty much what I was thinking. Probably won't do it this year though. I'll try and make it easy on myself and only send in about 4 guages at a time. A lot easier to reconnect everything. actually, 6 of the guages are not even hooked up.

yeah I know what you mean on that... I wonder if they actually redo the guage u send or if it is like a core exchange program? I had sent in a gps speedo puck for battery replacement and it was like a core/exchange program.. still like the thunder more than anything in the size range.... too bad the molds are no more..

Got the gauge back and assembled the new dash. Livorsi even went through the gauge to make sure everything was working.
