What do you think is the best sit down v bot. 35ft on up with Twin stag. no canopy set up for poker runs is?

In the real world ! no $$$$$ outerlimits or statments.

If you cant afford 6's you'll be blowing lots of Bravos in the long run but agreed the 42 PR is a really nice boat!

It depends on what you want sit down boat wise to determine between the 36 Cigarette Gladiator, 37 Outerlimits GTX, and the Donzi ZRC. They all run around the same speed with the same power besides the new bottom ZRC.

Velocity Tom 02-16-2010 06:35 PM

What about a phantom?

Smaller than all the others and not a whole lot made. Cool looking boats though.

Biggest BS on this site!! If you know how to drive a boat and dont turn at WOT the boat does nothing funny. We sold ours with 400+hrs on it and never had an issue!!

Velocity Tom 02-16-2010 06:48 PM

A cig? Thats my !st choice.

Yep! The Gladiator is a fantastic boat!

How did it like 3-4 ft crap.

Runs fine in 3-4's. In the real big stuff you have to remember its only a 36 (basically 37ft) 8000lbs boat. 525's are super reliable and run 90+ every day.

Velocity Tom 02-16-2010 06:56 PM

I boat in Fl. most of the time and 3-4 is about the worst I get into anymore. Im realy thinking outboard cat. But insurance is a bit more.

The Gladiator is perfect for that water! And outboard cat or a stock powered I/O Cat are perfect as well but you then have the insurance to deal with. In 3-4's you can run our 35 Motion faster than you could a Gladiator. For a Vee bottom though you cant beat a Gladiator for the money!

Velocity Tom 02-16-2010 07:05 PM

Thanks for the info.

For speed; 42Fountain PR Merc 700/NXT1. Same hull as the raceboat.

For affordable luxury;

43 Nor-Tech twin Ilmor 710/Indy drive

For best fuel mileage;

Eliminator 43 Eagle(Larry Smith Scarab) twin Cummins 480 diesels/ASD8 drives.

None of those are sit down vee's or what he is looking for??? There are not nearly as many Fountain PR's built compared to the Donzi or Cigarette. They will also be very hard on the drives.

Jassman 02-16-2010 07:26 PM

what defines best..??????. Im not a fan of the Cig..very loose boat...I like the Donzi better than the Fountain...but prefer this boat for it's edgy look, conviences and just more room all the way around.

Well you're right except for the Fountain...

OL40SVX 02-16-2010 07:34 PM

This thread is about affordable sit down vee's if everyone would go back and read Tom's initial post. That Nor-Tech is cool but still not really a true sit down.

lavey jr 02-16-2010 07:54 PM

How about the Laveycraft 39' EVO

customryder 02-16-2010 07:58 PM

zrc getting hard to find a good one.

I built some power in a 34' quite a few years back. Really good running boat. The motors maybe made 550 or so and the boat would break 85 mph. It had 3 sit down bolsters across the front and a bench in the back. Really great handling boat. The boat was quite a few years old....maybe mid to late 90's
Eddie

exactly, ..where does he mention affordable anywhere in his post...the 427 is a sit down boat, no different than the OL or Lavey with some type of a seat base..and is affordable vs the OL and Statement

Jeff, the NO $$$$ meaning no big money OL's or Statements, and the real world statement. On the 427 it doesnt seem like a true sit down to me from being around GTX's/SV's, running the Gladiator for years, being in most sit downs out there and currently owning two. It does seem like an excellent crossover though!! It seems from the pics part of the seat bottom drops down and there is no angled place to put your feet to push back on??

It may still have your fingerprints in the seat where you were holding on for dear life as I sailed it off of 5 footers.:lolhit:

Of all people here I miss this boat. :rolleyes: The 39EVO is hands down the best value for the money of all 35'+ staggered sitdown Vs.
