I sent this thread to Dave Coan from Coan Engineering. Below is his response.

Tyson says that there is no comparison of our trans to his. I doubt that he has ever seen our trans to even comment on it. He claims reverse ratio is 2:1 which I doubt. I hear that it takes a lot of throttle to back up. We ran the 43' Nortech in the Miami to Islamorada Poker Run last weekend, great experience & no problems !

Just as the 40 year old big block Chevrolet engine platform is the choice of today's 1200-1400 hp marine engines, Coan Engineering's aftermarket Powershift XMT 2 speed design is an example of the continuing technology improvements made to the Powerglide style transmission platform in recent years. It is rated for 1600 lb/# torque and 2000 horsepower, 1.82 :1 low gear,1:1 high gear with 1.61:1 reverse. By incorporating time tested and proven aftermarket components used in automotive racing applications, Coan is pleased to offer the Powershift XMT's strength and reliability at a substantially lower price than their closest competitor. Make the XMT your FIRST choice when considering a 2 speed and rely on a leader in the business with over 30 years of experience.

Like we have said several times we wish Dave the best. Hope u get a commision or something for the way you keep promoting his transmissions. This thread is about Gino and some friends that have come up with something that has been proven to work in a big heavy boat with big HP.

$12,000 for a work of art like this? I wish you would focus on a low cost turbine for us po folk!!! No worries that you'll be doing good things for offshore owners.
