Jim,
Mr. Cig also heard a rumor about this. I really enjoy buzzing the pier. I hope this is not true, it will detract from the boating experience.

BTW, Uncle Dale says hi! I have him on the phone.

Happy boating,
Dan

Hey Jimmy, welcome to the board !!!

Thats right,, no more cruising Navy Pier, we used to love sitting off the end of the pier lisening to the live bands,,,,,it really pisses me off that some jerkoff comes to our country ,,,, never mind i'm not going to get all worked up , you know where im going with this.........

Ya, the same situation down here. The Navy base near me has a real nice ramp. A season pass is only $25. Not this year. They are not letting people use it.

Similiar situation in the Port of Canaveral, you can't approach any of cruise ships, (we used go float up about 100 yrds off the Disney ships and eat lunch ) or go anywhere near the Naval basin. And if a Navyboat of Cruise ship is entering or leaving the Port, NO OTHER Boats are allowed in or out. I guess this is another example of how 9/11 has changed our lives in the USA!! Just another reason to KILL Bin Laden!

I heard from 79th Street to the North Side there will be markers up and you cannot go past the markers, I will be at the Marina this weekend and find out more ! It will really limit the boating fun on this side of thre Lake this year !!!

And I thought boating in Chigago couldnt get any worse. For those not from the area, Navy Pier has nothing to do with the Navy any more. Its just a big pier with rides, concerts etc. I really wouldnt have thought it to be a potential target for terrorists.

Intolerant1,

My bet is the water filtration plant, to the north of the pier, is the reason for the restriction. After 9/11 there were armed guards on the water cribs and a Chicago Marine unit between the pier and the filtration plant. Unfortunately live has changed forever for all of us.
