Piranhas at LOTO?
Watching it on the history channel now, girl caught a piranah on her fishing line at the 5 mile marker...
|
Wonder what they taste like??
|
As cold as it got this year they probably died if there were any left. However, you would be advised to send a goat or an older pet into the water before entering yourself.
|
actually you can swim around them and they wont bother you unless you are injured or bleeding. they only attack stressed prey. now if you cut yourself or otherwise when you jump in all bets are off.
|
They will die off in the colder water. Was it a Pirahna or a Pacu? a cousin but less menacing and more robust...

When I first saw this thread, I thought. "why don't they call them cougars like everyone else?" :drink:
|
They are very tasty, went fishing for them on an Amazon trip years ago. No surprise, used little chunks of beef for bait.
One got loose in the bottom of the boat as the guide was removing the hook, he jumped up on the seat until it stopped flopping around! They are all teeth. |

Yep , got to big for his / her fish tank , so they threw it in the lake!!!! remember folks, they live amongst us!! :angry-smiley-038:
|
They found at least one inlet at LOTO that has a minimal temperature of 57 F. They also did testing in labs that showed that they can survive up to 50 F water.
|
Hopefully, The 5' alligator that got away last year will eat them and keep us safe at The Lake.:fish:
|
I can't believe someone was actually dumb enough to dump a piranha in LOTO. People amaze me.

I use to have one in an aquarium. I got it when I was about 8 or 9 yrs old. Had it for about 10 yrs. My mom put tap water in the tank to top it off without using a product to counter the chlorine in tap water. I had a product that would basically cancel out the chlorine in tap water so it would be safe to put in fish tanks. She didn't know about it and topped off the tank and killed it.
He was real mellow. I could stick my hand in the tank and actually pet him. Fed him goldfish, guppies, shrimp, whatever I could get. In all the years I had him, I never saw him eat. He would wait until the lights were off. At one point, he didn't eat for about 3 weeks. I put about 60 guppies in one evening. He didn't touch them until I turned the lights out that night. I could hear him going at it attacking the guppies. The next morning there were 2 left. Actually made a pretty cool pet. Eddie |
I probably had 20 over the yrs. The red belly variety were aggressive. They wouldn't eat until we were motionless for 20 to 30 minutes. They can survive in Loto. An elderly couple fishing off my point caught a cross bred. He was huge. The size of a LARGE crappie. He was all white and was doscile with huge teeth. Lets hope that they either die out (doubt it) or cross bred with something doscile! By the way I never put any of my fish in any lake.

Seems to be old news..this article is from 2007

In FL we swim with everything, hell even the Manatee's bite down here. I've had an alligator swim right past me in the gulf  that got my attention. One of those Kite boarders just got eaten a week ago by a group of sharks (st Lucie), you just got to watch it. Hell I almost lost the end of a finger to a DAMN STONE CRAB a month ago. HUH and you all are worried about a couple of little fish:evilb::drink:

the article is old, not sure how old the show was last night. the article also says the fish cant breed with other species. But if you believe what Jeff goldblum said in Jurassic park, nature finds a way to preserve itself.. ever see Betty white in the movie lake placid, lol?

it was piranha, they were talking about the cold water and the different species that can survive it. As someone said earlier, they are there because people like Anthony :D put them in kinda crazy but according to the show they are swimming among ya.

was an old guy up here that caught a shark in Florida, froze it and brought it home, and then tossed in in a local lake. someone found it the next day and all kinds of funny sh*t was running around the rumor mill and press.
