Saw him out last year but he was with his wife and mother in law so he did not bit when I teased him with DOI. He's been out this year also saw him a few time. |
JP....
your thoughts? http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...e-800-96938235 i lost my gold status so i cant pm anymore and too lazy to renew i looked at the new ones in montreal at the boat show this year but waaayyyy out of my price range....the pricing on this seem low or right? what came in these as stock power plant? may have someone interested in my fourwinns so the new boat shopping is kicking up another gear! |
I was looking at those for a long time but couldnt find one within my price range. I think the price is about right with that motor.... obviously not the stocker. lowest price i found was 35,000. but that was for a 02 with a procharged 496. that looks like a good deal to me.

Real nice looking boat all around. Can a 350 really push that nearly 5,000 pound boat 55 mph?

I was thinking the same thing. If it's got a nice clean bottom it might. I just put a 383 in my 23' I'm getting 55 with bottom paint and not quite propped right. Slink, it's a nice looking boat and the price looks good too but you'll still be the slow boat in the crew you're hanging with.
|
It's a great looking boat with a nice layout. Mine's only 22, so while I can go faster than 55 when everything's perfect, I can't do it often.
Get it surveyed and take it out for a pin in some rough stuff. Looks like a perfect upgrade for not much $$$ if it's in great shape. |

not really looking to be the fast boat....if i wanted to be in a fast boat i'd have to look older and spend a lot more money. I just want something newer, bigger, nicer looking than what i'm in now.

Slink....alot of sb strokers can make a ton of pwr and torque...if the true pwr is around 350...that particular combination will be working pretty hard at least until your up on the pad. Combined with a bit of a deep X, may not be the best combo for the Chase hull....but? Get more info on the motor. Outside of that if the boat is in as good of condition as the pic's show, it's a good deal $$ wise. Due your homework!

Just tell her it counts as your wedding present :lolhit:
I'll be heading out tomorrow afternoon for a week down in Willsboro Bay. Winds in the morning look stiff, then letting up, hopefully. We'll be staying at a little old cottage way down the end on the West side. Roughing it for a week. Three coolers ready, hopefully we'll be able to really explore and have some water fun next week. I'm sure there will be a Turtle run and a Breakwater run involved at some point. Might even explore the Southern end of the lake if the wind is light. Be great to see some of you guys out on the water if anyone's around. I'll be trying to put as many hours on as possible from now until the end. |

Oh it's not that bad, really. One thing I've found is that you save a lot of money over time renting. Otherwise, you end up buying a house, paying for all those upgrades, having to say Yes Dear way too many times, then you end up renting anyway. But I digress :lolhit:
Seriously. Wish you the best of luck. Now go out and get that boat, it might just be your last chance. |

Slink.........torque/hp is still relative even with those sb strokers. So if your hp is at 350 your torque will be in the same neighborhood. It's easy nowdays to get 1 hp per ci especially with a 383 (built several of them over 500 hp). Chances are at that hp, they didn't fess for any dyno time so I doubt you'll have that info available. Just be careful and do your hw! |
what is the best beach this w-end?

Heading down this morning for some thirty packs and tequila as well :drink: |
Was up at Treadwell today...was nice. The Sunday forcast just keeps going south...now gusts up to 26 kts!!! Think more about that golf Jeff...don't want to be on the broad tomorrow if that forcast holds...BUT....you never know!!!
|
well... met up with a friend of mine in treadwell around 4:30 pm saturday (wellcraft excalibur 23). Went to champlain marina where I guess they had their annual party ! music that kept the kids awake till... 11:30 I guess, pm of course !
this morning, saw a fountain 32 launching and the red DCB 35 (sound awsome by the way). I then left champlain marina for thayer's but wind was laready a little too much to enjoy beach... so went out for a return home in some 4 or 5 feet roller that was enough to catch some air 2 or 3 times ! does not happens often ! pretty much lost the w-end but we were in family with friends and I guess that is all that really matters! See you guys later! |

Headed out of Willsboro today, saw the forecast, which was proven wrong by eleven :grinser010:
We actually went fishing, which is something I haven't done on a lake in many many decades. We missed the huge thunderstorms in Burlington by just a few miles. GD Jakes closed 10 minutes early again, so we fueled at Champlain Marina. Bruce runs a great place there, worth the NWZ in. Open 8 to 8 every day. So we struggled back, made some margaritas, and now slow cooking ribs. Almost relaxed now, not quite. Boating during the week is something I rarely get to do, at least all day. But I can't think of a better place to be, even in the rain. |
I hope you have a camper top!

They did it again. On the hook off North Beach. NWS said a storm headed SE towards Grand Isle CTY, on the Essex Center, then off towards Worcester.
We looked the the fast moving clouds coming down the lake SE, and picked up and went WOT most of the way back to Willsboro Bay. Right when we hit the dock, winds came up strong. 2-3-4 footers in the cove at the end of the bay. I had no choice but to dock straight in, transom facing the wind. A couple of waves came up over the swim platform and hit the cockpit cover midway up  This will be a test for their little dock. Thanks again NWS and NOAA for the early warning system. :grinser010: At any rate, we got to finish the rubs and wine from last night before we picked up. |
it poured so hard here ! one of my test driver was caught in that storm we had here, rained hard like I've not seen for a looooong time ! but he did not have the cockpit cover !!!
|
The only issue for me is that I'm docked in only 3-4 feet of water. I have an agreed value policy :lolhit:
Break my heart, new cooler in there. |
change to a deeper place!
|
atleast you guys have boats....mine goes by by as of friday...took the new owners for a spin on it last night. they were more than pleased with it and said i'll have cash in hand on friday....
now what to do.... season is coming towards the end, my wedding is in 2 weeks....my thoughts are pay off my truck and a credit card bill and wait till next year to get a boat....or i save the 5k and have it has a downpayment for next year...or i find something that someone doesnt want to store for the winter and see if i can get a smoking deal....i dont want to have to finance more than 15k so i'm going to look in the 20k or less range....i want to make my next step up into a 24 to 27 performance boat.... anyone have any recomendations? |
As much as it may hurt, I'd wait until the September-January period. 20K won;t get a boat show boat you want, but you may pick up a good deal from someone wanting to eliminate winter storage and all that.
But be prepared for a good boat at a good price, because you are definitely in the market. The Chase you showed look like a perfect boat for the money if checked out. Far less money than if you go hunting down a big HP boat that will require a piggy bank $$$ approach. $5 k down would work on a $20 k boat now. |
