Young Performance out there???

One of my bestfriends is bringing his 25 outlaw to you for a blower/new cam setup. Soon as he gets it back we are headed to the ozarks for memorial day!!! Would love to see some pics of the motor out with blower on and such if you could :) Thank you. Chris Lanham is the guys name.

Young Performance 03-12-2010 01:43 AM

I would be glad to. I will update with pics as soon as I have something worth taking a pic of:drink: Thanks
Eddie:drink:

FuelinAround 03-12-2010 08:30 AM

Thanks alot! I will be getting with you over the winter.. Would like to rip these stock 454 out and look at some 496 mags or something a little more reliable, EFI, and more fuel efficient.

Pwrbt33 03-12-2010 03:30 PM

Eddie's the man!! Your friend won't be disappointed!!!

Good plan.

Get him to build a set of his custom EFI engines. I have a couple of seasons on mine and have friends with a bunch more time than that. They hit hard, run clean and don't break. All I do with my 850 is change the oil.

Advantage 27 03-12-2010 05:25 PM

Eddie is definitely the route you want to take. Mine should be ready in April and cannot wait. Total rebuilt with many new goodies added. 547 with Holley efi intake

I handed Eddie a POS engine built by someone who thought they knew how to build a marine engine and he worked through all the f**k ups and kept me updated the entire time. He takes the time to give very detailed explanations that allows you to make educated decisions on next best step to take.

Eddie just needs to find some more time for sleep. :lolhit:

With out to mush detail what part of the country was this engine builder from?

f311fr1 03-12-2010 09:04 PM

Mt. Juliet, TN. Just east of Nashville, TN. I hauled my Black Thunder to him when he was in LA. pre Katrina. It is worth the trip.

Sleep is highly overated. I'll get all that I need when I'm dead:grinser010:
I signed the papers on the new shop today. Got a lot of work to do, but what else is new.
Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Bill,
Where are my measurements???

KY boy,
I look forward to it. We will get a plan together to get you the best bang for the buck. Just do it early. The best time is right at the end of the season. Right now I am turning it away. I almost didn't even take in your buddies to do. It is going to be tough to fit it in with all the other work. I am the only one that assembles, so I can only do so much. As much as I hate turning work away, I would hate it even more to take it in and not be able to finish it in a reasonable amount of time. Let me know when you are ready. Give me a shout sometime and we can get a gameplan together to determine the best course of action. Thanks
Eddie

Can't you find a good marine assembler and teach him?? That was the problem with Jim Hering; he was doing too much by himself and got behind...

Young Performance 03-13-2010 12:42 AM

It's not that I can't find an assembler......I don't want one. I don't trust anyone, including myself. That is why I double and triple check myself. As long as the engines going out the door have my name on them, then I will be the only one putting them together. I won't get behind because I just stop taking the work in. I will go until I drop, but I will not take more than I know that I can handle. I don't have an issue with working 18+ hours a day. I enjoy it.
It is almost 1 am and I am still at it. I went until 3:45 am last night. I will be at it again all weekend. This is my busy time and I will take advantage of it as much as I can. When it's time to play.....then I play hard. Right now, it's time to work. Thanks
Eddie

Chris said he dropped the motor this weekend at your "small shop" out back of your home... 6 bays! Wow. Now I wanna see pics of your setup just as much as the motor! Btw my name is Josh Emmick.

I'm trying brother. I'm going as fast as I can. I am cleaning everything for the short block now to start assembling. I wanted to have it done last week, but the bearings were giving me some problems. I needed to order some .001 undersized main and rod bearings so that I can get the clearances where I want them. Should hopefully have both shortblocks done this week. Talk to you soon.
Eddie

Yes, I am still around. I am winding up my busy season.

Bought a 60ft Chris Craft Roamer with 1271TI's to run around the Tn lake system. 3 staterooms and 3 heads, walk-in engine rooms and all the goodies. It is a piece of artwork. I never imagined that I would think that performance boating was cheap but you can spend some money on those big boys. Think 4 gal a mile when you lean on it. I am keeping the Donzi at Center Hill close to the house.

I have a friend here building me a custom hydraulic ram system so I can raise an lower the mast. I was explaining it to some of my big boat friends. They looked with bewilderment and asked how I knew someone that could do that.

We need to get together for a day on the lake again. I enjoyed last time. Next time I want to play more.

thats nice to hear if you can;t geter done DON'T take on the job good for you I respect that. I just lost 800.00 for renting a building to install my motor, but its way behind its build time. I guess I'm rich just give it away.

I have been so busy with both work and trying to get into the new shop. I'm building an assembly room, so I can't do any engine work in it until it is finished. I will put up the pics as soon as I have some.
Thanks,
Eddie

Thank you! We have had nothing but fun with this boat. Joe at Hustler and Eddie at Young Performance has given us a boat that has been close to perfect. We have had so much fun with no problems. We had a oil leak in the summer of 05 when the boat was new, changed oil pans and fixed that. The angle of the motors was the problem. Little spooky over 100 mph. My next boat will be the 39 rocket at Hustler with these motors in it. Just hearing Joe and Eddie talk to each other in the same room is priceless. Joe done a great job on the boat to, and always makes it alot of fun(4th one) Great guys.

Depends on who you talk to.:drink:
I don't touch anything until I give a customer a quote and he knows exactly what he is getting into. I try to account for everything so that the quote is what the job ends up. I don't like surprises, so I assume no one else likes them. At least not that kind of surprise. There are a lot of people that really have no idea what stuff costs and how long it takes to do some things.
On another note, we are going to try to squeeze 700 hp out of it. We'll see.
Eddie
