Just like a good game of golf, it's never in your best interest to beat your dad...at anything!!

Just put smaller props on HIS boat when he is away. :)
What props do you and your dad have? |

Although I believe you should let your dad win, I agree with the above post...it's always going to be easier to slow your dads boat down...switch a couple plug wires, put some water in his gas...bend a prop blade of his slightly...gelcoat a little hook into the bottom of his hull...pinch down one of his fuel lines a bit restricting fuel delivery...restrict his air intake a bit...there's a million things you can do that are low cost or free and sometimes easily reversible with little or no damage to his boat without you spending a wad of cash on your boat....but again, I'm all for letting him win...you know in your heart who's faster!
LOL.....I was just going to post something similar! :D There's two way to win.....get faster, or get them slower. :D You could hide a few hundred pounds of sandbags in the bow of his boat somewhere.......or you could always rub some snake oil all over the bottom of your boat. :evilb: |

Or he could put some on his dads and he would win.:drink: |
He is faster by a lot or a little?
Give us some details on the boats. Hours, EFI/Carb, Props. What speed are you seeing at what RPM? |
Have not run boat yet-has carbed stock merc.500h.p. w/bravo drives-It has 119 hours-mint condition, well cared for-props need polishing-so where can I get another mile or two w/out spending big bucks. thanks

Is his 96' a flat-bottom and your 99' a single step?
Upgrade to the 741 Cam might help you a bit and have the props labbed! :) Lastly, completely gut the cabin... ;) |

Best props on my '99 with 500 carbs were the stock 26 Hydro Quad 4's and the 28 Merc labbed Bravo's. Speed was pretty much the same with both sets, Hydros felt better at speed, Bravos cruised and came on plane a little better, both sets were right there at 5300 - 5400 rpm.
Sometimes age and experience have an edge! I remember back years ago when I had a 32 Velocity with tweeked 525 SC's, my son was real good with the boat, but the old man could always pull a couple more out of it. Good luck! Just remember that "respect your elders deal". :lolhit: |
