Mine is a unique one-off, and likely to remain that way...

Agreed but that doesn't mean I have to look forward to it just be thankful it's not a steeper learning curve! Right?

Hering cut my 16.5" prop down to 15.75" and reduced the cup near the hub for less stern lift. The boat feels better and runs freerer, but we still have more to go. With four people onboard, it ran over 90 with ease at last weekend's NJPPC Blackjack Run (a highly recommended event, by the way), but the nose is still being pushed down too much. I need to do some calm water testing with 0", 1" and 2" spacers and weight distribution changes in order to figure out what our next step is going to be.

NASCAT's prop testing party starts tomorrow, I believe...

Prop, drive spacer & ballast test tomorrow on LKN w/ racer Ben Robertson.

Ben Rocks! ... at boat setup

Fun to ride dirt bikes with also.

Testing tomorrow at the local lake; Hering rounded the ears off of the prop for more bow lift, which seemed to help when we ran last weekend, and Ilmor has loaned me a development nose cone. Watch this space...

Obviously they had more than the set I tested!!

Keep me posted on your progress, hope you get the results you've been looking for!

Peter swears that the reduced diameter will help my hop, maybe your chine walk too!

Good luck Chuck!

Actually....

>That IS one of the nosecones that you tested!

>I'm not fighting chine walk, it's been a combination of too much pitch and a hop from too much transom lift.

Anyway, I didn't get the test done this weekend due to a pulled back muscle. Hopefully, I'll get it done on 11/6...

Chuck,

Great thread. It's been fun watching the progress and evolution of your boat over the years... it's a true work of art!

BTW, I have a couple of Vipers and I can tell you once you get a taste of what that engine will do and how happy it is with some boost, you're going to be swapping pistons and retesting props! :D
