What is this boat ?

I traded for this boat the other day and I'm not sure what it is, I can't find and association of the hull numbers with a manufacturer, here is a link to the pictures of the boat, I think it's a Pantera, it's 28ft length 7' 10" beam. and weights 3660 with no motor or drive. any help would certainly be appreciated. Thanks

Im not exspert yet far from it but from the shape of the rear it seems from the pad, design, and deck with grab bar velocity.

It doesn't look like a pantera or a saber.
There's no stamp on the upper right corner of the transom?

glassdave 03-19-2010 01:50 PM

I dont think its a Pantera. The 28 Panteras have more freeboard. Could be a 28 Cig knock off or something like that. Looks like it could be a fun project.

AB From Windsor 03-19-2010 02:12 PM

Looks like an Aero Tek.

Fast Shafts 03-19-2010 02:35 PM

I'd put money on it that it is a 30' Webcraft. There was an old "A" class raceboat called "Duces R Wild" that was the same hull. The flat pad on the bottom runs forward 1/2 way to the bow. Also the deck near the stern is the same as the Webcraft. This might even be the Duces boat-no interior, lifting eyes on bow and transom, and the original dash has center steering. Definately NOT a Pantera.

Yes, here's a picture of the numbers, 889 28 .. I couldn't find any that matched in the apraisal guide.

I appreciate you guy's response, wonder where I cam see a pic of Duces R Wild boat

iamjoe 03-19-2010 08:30 PM

I'm not an expert either, but I'd be surprised if it were a Webcraft. The bottom seems kinda similar (from what can seen) but I was a dealer for them in the early eighties and I don't remember anything with a deck like that. My guess is Aero Tek

wjb21ndtown 03-19-2010 08:31 PM

All I know is that is entirely too much trailer for that boat!

:lolhit:

GregGuimond 03-19-2010 09:19 PM

Not a Pantera and not a Velocity, could be a test mule?

Ooops .. I forgot to mention that it's not the right trailer for it, it was on blocks when I found it, thats the only trailer I had to get it home, that was funny .

I was surprized when I took it to the scales, I didn't believe the scale ticked till I swung the hull and took the trailer to weigh it, only 800 pounds, so the boat alone weighs 3660 pounds ... not a lite weight

Could it be a Signa?

Fast Shafts 03-19-2010 11:09 PM

Greg,
Is that the 27 Signature that was on Craigslist in Rochester/Syracuse last year?

Back to the topic: Check out this old OSO thread: the picture in post #4 looks like your deck.
http://ww.offshoreonly.com/forums/ge...webbcraft.html
In post #25, Sharkey talks about repairing the deck on Duces-this goes along with the picture of the supports under the deck.
I've got a pic someplace of Duces-I'll post it later during the week.
Did you actually take a tape measure to it? It looks like they made a 28 and a 30. I bet a dollar this is a Webbcraft.

I agree. My father used to sponsor Duces R Wild. I also have pictures somewhere, although they may be from the from when they ran the 28 Cig.

Steve_H 03-20-2010 01:24 PM

89' 28 Webbcraft I used to own.

You Guys Done it .. Thats the identical hull, it is a 89 model 28ft Equlizer, just like the Dueces boat. The Speedwake site confirmed that also ... THANK YOU ALL ! very much. It's kinda neat that the boat was made less than a hundred miles from where I live. If it has not been registered in 3 years it falls off the computer system here in Oklahoma, but now that I know what it is, I can get a search done at the state capitol that may reveal the last owner it was registered to, easy to get title that way. Thanks again, I'll keep the progress posted here.

Thanks, you sent me to the right direction ... Good Work ! and yes, I used a tape to measure the boat, I'll be glad to send ya the dollar. :)

Fast Shafts 03-20-2010 07:23 PM

Glad I could help!! Your boat definately looks like a race boat, let us know if you find more info on the boat. FYI, Kurts marine rebuilt the boat and painted it all white.

This is far from a valid HIN. Probably the last 3... 889 would mean built in 1988 (sept-dec) and titled as a 1989 model year.

It could be one of Aero, Predator hulls, with the new deck ? Or maybe someone made a copy of his boats.:lolhit: Many of these hulls had adjusted HIN numbers like this one. :drink:
