Sonic is finally back from winter projects...PICS

Finally got time to snap some photos of the winter projects I have finished or am finishing up. Here is a list. List gets better as you go down. She is an 89 so I spent most of this winter getting things up to snuff.

*Raised fuel filter bracket to use mercury performance filters
*Changed all spark plus on both motors
*Changed all spark plug wires on both motors
*New distributor caps and rotors on both motors
*New sea pumps on both motors
*Rebuilt starters on both motors
*Rebuilt carbs on both motors
*Removed fuel line switches and hard wired tanks to individual gas tanks
*Installed 2 led blue lights where the holes were left from the switch removal
*Removed old center light in rear bench and replaced with a newer led system
*Ran new Hardin shifter cables due to stiffness in lines
*Removed refrigerator and built a custom storage box to hold bags etc. Got one more panel to finish and it will match perfectly.
*Painted bilge area
*Cut 2 holes for 7.7 in JL Audio Marine speakers
*Cut 2 holes for 1 in JL Audio Marine tweeters
*Cut 2 holes for 10in JL Audio Subwoofers
*Trying to decide where to mount 2 more 7.7. Beleive I will be posting them in the top of the wing where you see the lexan glass in the pics.
*Awaiting design work to put the sonic decals back on the side of the boat. Will post pics for opinion when I receive them.
*Awaiting new carpet for cuddy cabin
*Awaiting speakers for stereo install

Will have everything completed before Memorial Day at the Ozarks :)

Which speakers would you install? I will be ordering them in a week or so? Titanium or white? I will be adding grey carpet. Also I am deffinitely doing the sports series.

Check out the Wet Sounds speakers. If you're ever in Paducah you can stop by and listen to a set when my boat comes back from the dealer. I also have another boat in the shop getting a complete Wet Sounds setup. They're considerably cheaper then the JL's and sound just as good.

They also have a set of HLCD (Horn-Loaded Compression Driver) 6X9's coming in April.

Another speaker isnt an option now that I cut holes for 7.7's....Think JL is the only one making that size. How handy for them right? lol. I am one of those who saves for ever to have the best instead of buying something earlier and not getting what I want. There is a brand names memphis that is also incredible but the grills didn;t look as good as the JL's. That JL Sports grill is hard to beat.

I'm considering these myself, can you put the billet grilles on them?

FuelinAround 03-22-2010 08:48 PM

Yes, you can order the grills if you bought them before the sports series came out. The speakers are available to order in all 4 designs though. Which color would you suggest foir mine?

looks sick... you need to add some led's in the engine compartment... we did on ours.. .check it out!

Yes you can put billet grills on them. I got mine from Ron's Custom Billet. They were great to work with. I have been extremely happy with the JL's. Here are some pics of mine after installing.

Looks sweet.... thats next on my list but bad thing is... cant hear the music over the superchargers lol

Man those lights and grills are awesome! Needless to say I have spent a small fortune this winter just trying to get the boat running perfect. It needed a very thorough run through mechanically. Hopefully next winter will be adding fun things like engine lights, gauges, etc.

FuelinAround 03-23-2010 08:50 AM

Still haven't got a single answer on rather I should do the white or titanium???? lol as stated I am redoing my gauges in carbon fiber and adding grey carpet this winter so I think the titanium ones may blend in well.

P.S. Should ahve some grapic work back today for the new lettering on the sides. It always amazes be how a little vinyl decal can really change the exterior of a boat.

I would do white with classic grills. You could paint the actual grills another color to match the interior colors.

BTW, DC Gold 7's use the same size cut out hole as the JL770's, just not a separate tweeter.

I agree, white classics, I am doing a similar system and IMO the sport grilles are cool but I dont like looking at the speaker. It would be cool if the woofer cone wasnt just black, if they were better too look at maybe like Mempis I would consider it. I have heard good things about DC Gold as well. x1 on painting the grilles to match.

richanton 03-28-2010 08:04 AM

I like the titanium sports the best, they just look more modern. I guess it depends what other upgrades you have planned. If you plan other upgraded like gauges, throttles, etc, choose the style that will go bst with the colors you choose. If this wil be it for a while go classis whote because it will blend best with what you've got now.

Nightlife1970 03-28-2010 11:06 AM

I pseronally would go with the white, it always matches.

I would also not put the speakers in the top of the arch. The side will have much better sound coverage.
