The LOA is currently pushing 30'

Well its a Outerlimits, so for the first boat I would say make a special package say with a custom builder that is at least 650hp but for the same cost as a merc 525efi. Second boat with 525efi and hope you bloe the similar sized boats out of the water. I will say you need to be able to out perform a 29 Fountain with 525efi or you will catch chit all day long. No one wants a Ferrari that performs the same or worse than a Mustang.

Looking forward to seeing it.:evilb:

So just for the sake of conversation here what is the target price for this 28 footer, assuming it's to be a single engine rig, with say a Merc 525 XR ITS Sportmaster set up? Keep it simple, basics and no 50K paint job, where does it land on the old dollar meter?

animalhouse 04-07-2010 07:20 PM

Our target price will be in the 150k ballpark

Forget the cool factor of an arneson.......the boat is cool, thats enough. I'd be putting the most popular engine package for 28-30 footers so you have a realistic comparison. Putting up big numbers in these conditions will put out the biggest statement to the public.

Merc 700/NXT or Ilmor V10 with Indy drive. Make it a Hot Rod!

CB-BLR 04-07-2010 08:24 PM

Merc 700/ NXT drive...
150K cost...

I dont think Outerlimits has the current production capabilities to build enough... there would be a waiting line... the things would sell like hotcakes!

Every one you built would be sold before it barely got started being built.

Nice boat and I agree with a twin option, twin built up small blocks? Otherwise put a 525 with a Bravo XR Sporty package, it's a 28' boat which means that you need to be somewhat competitive with price/options/power/drive(s). If you start mucking up the power/drive package people will just gravitate to a bigger boat because they'll be in that price range anyway. If you put the bigger power/bigger drives on it then I think you'd shrink your pool of buyers for a 28' boat.

The 700 would deffinately be optional, the target price of 150k would be based on 525's or the Ls package.
