Question O.T. Strange Email?

Has anyone else got this email that states: "Hi,This is a special nice game
This game is my first work.
You're the first player.
I expect you would like it." I have received this a few times but don't see any attachment or anything. It has come from someone different each time.

That's what I thought at 1st. But now it has circled around and came from one person that never emails me anything. He is known throughout OFFSHORE. Another time, was just a Local friend. Perhaps I should check with them to see if they even know they sent it to me. Possibly a VIRUS???

I got it yesterday from "Sharkey", is that you?

I am very concerned about viruses so I permanently deleted it from my computer without opening. BTW it did have an attachement with two files, one was a .exe the other and excel spreadsheet. I permanently deleted both.

Good thinkng jbrauer if you'd opned them you could've allowed a Trojan Horse virus to get in.
If you guys don't have a firewall installed yet get one soon. That'll stop things like that from gaining access.
If you don't know where to go for one try Sygate or Black Ice Defender. I have Sygate's firewall on my system and works great.

I deleted it as well. Now how do I find out if my Yahoo address book is being used to send this crap out?

JBruaer, Could you tell me what address it came from. Was it a Yahoo address or Comcast? I know I didn't send this. But someone did and I need to know where to look. Thanks!

If you had a firewall it would've tracked the address that it came from as well as where it went after leaving your machine.

you mean klez virus.

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/[email protected]

****EDITED****
sounds like klez. I did some more checking because we had someone think they got it here at work. definiately scan your machine with an antivirus scanner and follow the link above and download the cleaner tool.

like iggy said, get a personal firewall too, I use zone alarm pro. anybody that has a cable modem and it "always on" must have a firewall or you will be hacked, its just a matter of time.
