Default need help please.

i am majorly boat illiterate and dont know very much. at the end of the summer last year, we wered on the lake , when while in drive going about 30mph. the boat (out drive, i think) made a popping sound and i shut it down right away. looked it over and found nothing, but upon starting it back up it sounded good and went into drive but giving it gas as trimming up and down it sound like something is loose, pounding, but still drives, did not want to hurt it any more so limped it back to shore, any predictions
