Running Waterfoul's Engine Sat.

Barring any unforeseen issues, Waterfoul and I plan on doing the run-up on his engine here at my house Saturday morning. Anyone who's interested is welcome to stop by. We'll have a box of doughnuts (not the kind with the plastic chocolate frosting either; the real, genuine fresh ones!) and coffee (maybe even hazelnut). Stop in if you're in the neighborhood.

Good luck guys. Give me general directions. I have to clear my lot that afternoon but may be able to sneak over. Thanks and remember to put oil in it.:D :D And don't let mike be in charge of the drain plug. Remember the drive issue?:D :D

Got my fingers crossed Guys!

Let's hope it's right on the money...If your desktop dyno numbers are any indication, it should be a fun ride!

I might actually be firing mine saturday too if my lifter comes in.

Dyno's Engines

Dyno,

Have you run your engines / boat yet?

If so what kind speeds are you hitting
providing it's broke in. :)

Thanks

Cougarman

Dyno had a bulletproof season last year with his upgraded engines. I think he's been running 75 mph on the gps.
Mitch, Riley Street eats of 120th Avenue to Sunrise Ave. It's the first street east of 120th. Turn right (south) and go to 2946 and look for my white suburban and the grey 24' car trailer.

Crazy,
Are you guys going to dyno the motor or just break it in and install it? Would be interesting to see the real numbers.

We're just going to run it for camshaft break-in. I agree that it would be neat to dyno it but $300 for the dyno run isn't in the budget. But we can still stand around drinking coffee and eating donuts while it pounds away on the floor.:D

Waterfoul 04-27-2002 12:31 AM

Just running it. I don't have the $$ for a dyno pull.

Engine is assembled. Ready to go!!! Be there at 9:00!!!!

Red Stripe 04-27-2002 02:58 PM

Sorry I missed guys. Never made it that far south. So how did it run?

Tinkerer 04-27-2002 04:00 PM

It ran great and sounded good also. No problems.

Crazyhorse ,

how long does it take to break in a new cam.

i picked up my broke 502 today and the cam is in bad shape too.

We like to run the engine at no less than 1500 rpm for at least 20 minutes. Then we shut it off to change the oil and filter, followed by a run of 15-20 minutes. At the end of the second run the idle is set at 800 rpm. Any idea what you want to do for a replacement cam for the 502?

Steve_H 04-27-2002 11:22 PM

ive got twins and the other 502 runs fine.
both motors are "stock" so im going to put a stock cam back in it.
i dont really have a choice unless i want to spend even more money:eek:

Crazyhorse 04-27-2002 11:45 PM

That's true. What hp is your 502? Just wondering if Federal Mogul offers your camshaft.

Steve_H 04-28-2002 12:04 AM

they only have 390 hp but its enough to get me 80 mph in a 28 footer:D

the previous owner installed them.

they are basically big truck motors.
