Whipple on 6.2
Looking at a 32 Sunsation MCOB with a whipple on each of the 6.2s.
Would a survey determine how many hours and at what rpm those engines were driven since the whipple installation? ie.. does the ecm get wiped when a whipple is installed?
For arguments sake, if the engines were not driven hard, and maintenance was by the book, how long would 6.2s last with super chargers?
thanx

A computer can tell you what use the current PCMs have. They may have replaced the ecms when the whipples were installed though. Life just depends on how hard they were run and fuel quality. The weak link is the cast pistons. They hold up fine as long as you have good fuel and don't run miles long wot runs. Get some low octane fuel and they're done.

Another thing I would look for is to see if they installed oil coolers when they installed the Whipples. Those 6.2's only hold 4.5 quarts of oil IMO, an oil cooler is a must if you add a Whipple.

X2 on the oil cooler. I had some 6.2 with Whipples and we added 10 qt pans and ran the piss out of them. They lasted way longer with way more boost then I would have guessed. If you have enough oil and it stays cool then they should last for a long time. Well also given that they get the proper fuel octane for the boost setup.
