Bringing in a Canadian boat to the US
 

I searched this topic but havent had much luck.

If youre trying to bring in a boat from Canada that has never been registered, how does that work?

The boat is a 05 but has never been titled but it does have a Canadian MSO.

Will there be taxes, fines, fees? What am I lookin at here?

if the boat is built in canada you must make sure it meets all us coast gaurd requirements.and then get a nafta agreement from any u.s. or canadian broker.same goes for the trailer,it must meet u.s.specs.probably the best thing you can do is get a broker the average cost is200-500.and will save you alot of time and make your crossing easier.i have done it a few times,by myself,but i now will only use a broker.but make sure whoever is selling the boat.has all the paperwork.at the time of transaction.and dont try to declare a lower price of what you actually paid at the border

Ok so when you bring it across the border and declare your price you paid, do you have to pay the taxes right then? And when I get it home and try to register it in OK, do I pay taxes on it to the state once again??

no you only pay tax once im not sure if you pay at the border or at your local registry.but make sure you declare the right amount.you also may need to buy a permit for the trailer to get it home
