Default Question on Bravo outdrive clamping screws

On the gimbal ring there is 2 lock nuts on the top. I think they call them clamping screws. It is to tighten up the upper swivel shaft. What is the torque on a Bravo in ft.-lb? Also is there any danger in retorquing them? I only ask because I heard that you can crack the gimbal ring in doing so. Should they be torque checked every year? I have very loose steering and this was one of the thinks I was told to do, it may help some what?

If it's real sloppy, tightening it will probably just
break the gimbal ring...the gimbal ring is worn out.

Here's the torque spec's out of the latest manual

3/8" u-bolt 53 ft/#'s

7/16" u-bolt 70 ft/#'s
