Cleaning the fuel tanks

question to all restorers and classic boat gurus.

I am im the process or restoring a 89 cafe racer that has been sitting in a warehouse for the last 16 aprox. I plan on installing new engines but want to make sure i dont piss them down the drain as I start them because of a filthy fuel cell.

what is the best way of cleaning fuel tank, preferably while installed?

ive heard circulating some gas a few times through the tank works.

insight?

Pull the fuel all out, then check inside the tank with a bore scope.. ;)

If it, leaks or looks chitty, replace it.. ;) Jamie / Lakeside
