Default Sea Strainer/ flushing

Anyone ever use basic "garden hose" quick connects on their strainer washout ports? Seems like a simple way to go about it... just click the hose on and flush them. My only reservation is that the suction would open the quick connect and let air in while underway.

you are correct, that is why you must use the marine style with the plugs installed during normal operation,no air leaks.

I used a stainless ball valve between the strainer and the hose connector. Open valve when flushing, close while boating. Works slick.
