Congratulations

..to OSO member Bob Goehegan, driver of the P5-class Carrabbas Pantera, for the Victory yesterday in Daytona..

Way to go Bob!! ..You've mad us Joisey-guys proud! :D

Gordo 04-28-2002 06:25 PM

Congrats!!

Got to meet the Carrabbas Pantera team in the pits. Great guys, and a beautiful boat!
(Fred, you would have been jealous)
Congrats on the win !!! :)

Gordo 04-28-2002 06:52 PM

We was set up!

Actually, we were all set up and ready to race. The boat was dialed in and felt great. We were cruising along behind the pace boat on our way to the course when we snapped an Imco drive shaft right in half. Since this was a new shaft with test time only we were somewhat, shall we say, Pissed!!!
We could see the rest of the boats forming their milling circle and all we could do was sit & watch. Over two hours tow back to the crane buy a local, (ya gotta love boaters). It was agonizing. I felt really bad for the Team owner, Bill Park. This was kind of a home town race for him. He had a lot of family there, all pumped up for a win.
Oh well. It looks like we have something to prove in Marathon. At least we're all fueled up and ready to go.

That was Bob>???? WAY TO GO!!!!!

Marty, we might need to go to Carrabbas again to watch the race!

GMHD,
was great seeing you again!!
I was at the Bill "Park-a-rosa" and snuck on line for a bit.
BTW, Sneek on the GM dudes laptop? Ha! right! I think Terry has that thing handcuffed to himself. ;)

Gordo 05-01-2002 01:32 AM

Bob's buying free drinks after his win?

I'm all over that !!!!
(ain't it fun startin a good rumor?) :p

Daze,
Sorry I missed ya dude! I hope you're gonna make it to Marathon.

Catmando,
We were doing about 55 to 60 mph, a ways behind the pace boat on our way to the parade lap. Dang the boat felt good, right up to the point where it came slowly to a stop. ;(
I've never seen a shaft break like that, and everybody we talked to has never seen a shaft break like that. The weird part was I think it was a new shaft, with a little bit of test time on a flat lake, and the time it took us to get to the course.
I'm not positive as to who talked to who, but it sounds like Imco has been contacted, and to their credit, it sounds like Solarized is being taken care of.
Look out Marathon,
GM Vortec/Solarized Racing has something to prove!!

Thanks for all your kind words and support! I first must confess that Todd Blythe was driving. Apparently there was a minor mistake during registration listing me as the driver. Anyway, it was nice to meet so many OSO members and put faces with names ie; Dangerkitty and Gordo.
We almost didnt make the race due to a trailer bearing melting on the way to the ramp, minutes before the race.
The race was very choppy with 3-6' waves. "Wild Rose" and "Carrabbas" put on one heck of a show for several laps untill the Halon fire extinguishers went off accidently in "Wild Rose". Jimmy Spears and Bobby vow to get even at the next race, and were great sports after the race.
Plans are in the works for a promotional event before the NJ Grand Prix event in August. I'll keep everyone posted!
We would also like to thank all the OSO members who posted photos to keep fans apprised of the race.
Thanks again for OSO's members support!
Bob G.

Bodyshot,
Did you get the Sutphen yet?:)

BODYSHOT1 05-01-2002 12:37 PM

Sutphen

Bob,

After a number of roadblocks, it appears we're back on track...we shall see..

See you at SkaterFest??
