Default Banks Marine Concept Twin-Turbo Duramax Diesel V-8

Thought I would get a forum going regarding the twin turbo concept Banks is working on.( http://www.banksmarine.com/ ) Is there anyone out there with some inside info or seen on in a boat yet? Supposed to be a direct replacement for a big block. I know I love my duramax in my truck and would love to put on in my boat.

That looks like a very sweet set-up. I have a friend who builds high performance Duramax motors: http://www.kperacing.com/projects.html (the Duramax is at the bottom of the this page). One of which powered a late model Mustang to a new record at the Texas Mile this year. He is chomping at the bit to build one for a go fast boat and has some very cool ideas.

Do a search, that has been gone over and over.

Banks had one at a show that had a supercharger and turbo's. They are just concepts right now.

The marinized Duramax seems to have been on the burners for quite a while.
However, I am not aware of any proven success. I'd love to hear that they have.
Anyone?

PPE has one in a warlock that has a duramax in it. There was an article in (http://www.dieselpowermag.com/featur...oat/index.html) a while back but search in the gallery on PPE (www.pacificp.com) and there are some videos of it.

Do a search on thedieselplace.com that is a good duramax forum site. You may have to join but it doesn't cost anything. I think i read on there a while back that Tony Burkhard at allseasondieselperformance.com put one in an air boat, i no that its a little different than what your looking at but still pretty cool.

Don't know how many Banks has built to date, but the interview I read in Diesel Power mag said the first ones are going to the FBI for their boats.

Banks has been working on this project for a long time. They started with twin turbos for 550hp. Now they've figured out how to mount a supercharger on top for 800hp/900tq.

Banks says they've had to almost totally rebuild the Duramax for greater strength for the Marine environment. There will be two iterations; one for the heavy cruisers with max rpm at 3800, and the performance motor at 5800rpm.
