Bimini Offshore Challenge Update: JBS Wins
On the phone right now with Brad Schoenwald, the organizer of the Bimini Ocean Challenge, right now. Eighteen boats started the Bimini Ocean Challenge at 11:20 a.m. They started 20 minute late thanks to a crane delay getting boats into the water.
JBS, the well-known 50-foot turbine Mystic, finished first with a time of 55 minutes and 11 seconds. Last year's winner was Aqua Mania, another 50-foot mystic, finished in 43 minutes and 43 seconds. "This year, they actually had weather," says Schoenwald. The last boat to finish was Steve Miklos in Sun Print at 1:45:18, which isn't bad at all considering the boat is a single-engine V-bottom. "We had some last-minute sign-ups, some last minute drop-outs, but overall we did really well and I'm really happy," added Schoenwald. "It was really, really cool. People like Bob Teauge in Team Amsoil came back a second time. Bill Pyburn showed up with Pure Platinum. I'm just really happy with the way it turned out." |
Cool, Thanks for the update.
