I hear this all the time with kids and ATV's the gas works both ways just because it has alot of power does not mean you must use it. But I also agree with you on your thoughts.

I believe he has another thread going as well, and in that one he mentioned having owned several boats over the years, but this would be his first true performance boat. Unless there are two guys looking at the same boat. :)

But yes, I agree 100%, even if you've owned several non performance boats over the years, stepping into a 42' with 1400 HP is a pretty big jump.

Take the Tres Martin class and he should be fine...

I agree... but he should have a working knowlege of basic seamanship from his previous boats . As far Going from cruiser to performance boat I would HIGHLY taking Tres's class . I basically did the same thing going from cruiser to performance and took Tres's class was the best thing I could have done.

700's But a must is the Tre class, dont hurt yourself.

Thanks for the other 42s links. I am a little worried about getting something older that 08. The new one from Ledgend Marine looks like a good deal but not sure about the plane white. You think I can custom paint it?
