Kilo Runs Out for Phenomenon
Sorry to have to report this, but http://www.boats.com/boat-content/20...or-phenomenon/.
Given that the Phenomenon crew was rushing to make it for the SBI Kilo Runs tomorrow, this probably isn't a bad thing. The first priority, as always, in something like this and rushing never helps with that priority. |
thats too bad. best of luck to them in the future
|
That sucks....

Bummer

Ditto that! Something like a kilo takes time to prepare for and is always best to approach it in small increments :drink:
I am sure this is not the last we see of these guys!!!!! |
Too bad about the sponson-seawall incident. That's gonna leave a mark. I hope these guys can get this record soon!
|
Maybe some may not agree with me, but a postponement of the attempt in need of more testing time is the best news I could have heard today ! This boat has only seen the water 8 times since it was built.
I would rather see them take their time with this project and get all of the bugs worked out then to risk it all and have a catastrophic ending. Something tells me Big Al Sr was watching over them today and had them make the right choice to wait. Mr Scott said it best :

I look forward to seeing them reach their goal, but just when they feel they are 100 % ready to do it. Best of luck Al & Bob ! |
Best of luck in the future.

Maybe a phone call to Jerry Gilbreath is in order?
He was very instrumental in some of the the Al Sr./ Sirois projects and knows how to keep things under control, safe and successful. Just a suggestion....no knock on the current crew, they have done an amazing job..... but this effort certainly needs the "best of the best".....and that's Jerry. T2x |

When is the next official kilo run? Same time next year, or will another org. have one?
|
Does anyone have pics of the boat? I've only seen one or two pictures ever.

Hi Tim !
That is one beautiful looking boat and your pic's are great. Thanks for sharing them with all of us. That record will be broken by Phenomenon when they are done testing and they can do it safely. Good Luck Guys. |

spoke with them about an hour ago and they had the boat on the trailer across from the Dry Pits, all 4 turbines spinning.
The presence that boat has is undeniable. I watched from the seawall side of the pits go from just me and a few others to everyone watching while they were attempting to get all 4 going. The sound was awe inspiring. And d@mn is it BIG. |

It was nice to see John add him to the AMF team and see his runs in Chattanooga, Tn... :drink: Warby is a living legend ! |

Well, if they do that then two things must follow: 1) double the current budget; and 2) do not let him touch the throttles.

Dang, Rich, you catch on quick......
|
We were all looking forward to seeing the boat run - hope they keep their positive momentum. It's a great boat and a great organization!!
|

To the best of my knowledge and I could be wrong, but Warby made his record prior to any involvement with John... Sharkbait
LOL you are so correct! I think it was a video I heard him say that about Mr. Warby, or maybe it was a magazine I read it in, can't remember... I met Mr. Warby at several races. He was very gracious and accommodating. I think he will not race again unless someone breaks his record. |
I cannot wait to see video of this bad boy on full noise!
What a great project! I'd say the crew involved currently are doing an outstanding job of R&D and learning while doing. My hat goes off to the whole crew. I mean, just look at that thing! |
