Porter on Formula: Realistically Optimistic
Had a nice chat with Scott Porter of Formula Boats this afternoon, http://www.boats.com/boat-content/20...n-for-formula/.
In no way, shape or form did Mr. Porter say Formula, much less the entire go-fast boat industry, is out of the woods. In fact, he expects the next six months to be pretty rough. But the 2010 winter boat shows were a lot better, he said, than those in 2009.
I'll supply a link when the complete feature on Formula (still writing it) publishes on Boats.com.
Things are still pretty dark for the go-fast boat world, especially on the production side. But it's nice to see at least one builder is seeing a little light.

Thanks Matt
I had the pleasure of serving with Scott on the board of OPBRA when he was president. Scott has been, and remains an iconic force in this industry. His families' contribution to offshore is immeasurable.
Thanks again for the post.

The Porter family is pretty first class. I would have thought that they would have been smarter than to get duped into the Passport Marine fiasco. But they wanted to believe it was the right thing to do because they did not want to lay off any of their workers which is extremely noble.
I challenge anyone to find a Formula owner that has had a bad experience with the factory. Their customer service is pretty spectacular!

You're right, Dave. The Porter family is a class-act producing first-class products.
