Outboard Vee Hull 28 ft range

Who makes an outboard vee hull 28 ft range? twin outboarrds performance boat, not a CC. I would be looking for a used boat, a new boat would be out of my price range. So, what boats should I be looking for?

Pure Energy 07-10-2010 10:34 AM

Sutphen made a 26, and maybe a 30?

Indy 07-10-2010 10:35 AM

The Long Island boats would be good...Activator, Progression, Kryptonite (outboard models?), Superboat, et al.

How Much You Want To Spend???

kryptonite would be top choice, they only made a couple literally, from what i am told, and i do not know if the outboard models were the same just with more support on the transoms.

i need to find that out, if an i/o boat can be converted to an outboard boat, in the case of kryptonite.

lately, with the problems i have been having with an i/o in a baja, i just really would like to go the outboard route.

Power Play.

Phantom boats has a new outboard version of there 30' pleasure boat about to come out....

Timeless61 07-10-2010 11:03 AM

Will told me about the outboard phantom, but I would think it would be pretty pricey being that it is new, and just coming out.

sixmassive 07-10-2010 11:27 AM

pantera makes a 28 with twin ob. There is one on boat trader in pompano fl

Timeless61 07-10-2010 11:33 AM

how fast do most of these boats run? i have a baja that runs around 65 mph right now, so i would want to step up quite a bit, thanks

There is a cheap30' malstrom V hull on lakeland craigslist. also a manta 30' in chicago on c/l also. Repower with newer o/b's and be reliable.

Excalibur 27 if you are looking for an older boat.

I believe this Checkmate 30 Convincor may still be for sale. I'm sure the price has come down. Original ad was in 2007 when the boat was still new. He has had it to 90 mph with a pair of 300X Mercs.

Clamp ons are not any easier or cheaper than i/o's, once all the bugs are worked out of an i/o, it is better than outboards, working the bugs out of an outboard sucks alot more, buy new with warranty, or keep the i/o sorry....

DareDevil 07-11-2010 12:36 AM

I say get a Powerplay if u can , u will not regret it.

A 28 or even a 33 which is big but still easy to handle and with twin 300's around 75 ish , the 28 is maybe a little faster with 300's.

A 30 MANTA is good also !!!!!!

( i mean they are all good boats , but those 3 would be my choice )

Timeless61 07-11-2010 12:38 AM

I have a bit more experience with outboards than i/o's and we didn't have that many issues with ros 2.5's on a 28 skater, but I am not as interested in 2.5's for this boat.

E Colby 07-11-2010 07:24 AM

Don't forget about the Concept 30. It was designed from the start for twin 300X outboards and every time I've been in one, I was impressed.

sixmassive 07-11-2010 08:27 AM

it sucks leaving an i/o at a mooring for more than a week, growth gets everywhere

wananewboat 07-11-2010 10:15 AM

This 28 always looked nice http://tuffmarine.com/

Velocity Tom 07-11-2010 11:39 AM

30 velocity 2x300s should run 80mph plus. the fish boat ran 77 with a full top on it.

Sydwayz 07-11-2010 08:45 PM

What are your spend, engine, and speed preferences? I might be able to build a new 28 Active Thunder for you.
