Upgrading
 

Hey. I am 17 now and I have a boston whaler 13' (which I am selling to my parents) and a 13' mini hawk which I am fixing up, then selling.

I want to upgrade to a bigger boat once I have the money and i'd like opinions on a good 20-25' performance boat. What boats would be fast, have a cabin and are easy to maintain?

I have my eyes right now on a 23' Chris Craft Scorpion 230.

Keep the boston whaler for a second boat.

25 Active thunder for cabin space.

The boston whaler will of course stay in the family. My budget is very low, but I'll look at the 25'. It would have to be a project type boat. I work on the weekends making 10$ an hour and i also mow a few lawns.

Do you want a small block or big block? If a small block is okay then a 22' Donzi, Scarab, Stinger etc (all about 20*-22*degree bottoms) if you want a 24* bottom Like a Corsa, Martini, Monza etc then a Big block is a must. where do you boat? on a lake? is it smooth or rough? the 24* bottoms aren't much fun when it's smooth water But Really shine when the water gets rough-rougher the better. how fast do you want to go? you can put a basic big block in the 22* bottoms and be in the high 60s low 70s with almost no mods.

I am located on Manhasset Bay, NY on Long Island. Water can be smooth or rough depending on the weather. A boat with a 502hp would be great (small block?) and a 500 efi big block would be nice, but of course keep in mind that I am 17 and cant afford something very fancy and new. Project boats and cheap things that can be made into something great.
I like the Superboats and the 23' Chris Craft Scorpion. Id love to go up to 65mph.
