Mystics at Shootout

Looks like Mystic will be well-represented at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in August, http://www.boats.com/boat-content/20...-will-compete/.

Could be a great battle.

Matt - I was told that Phenomenon is supposed to be there as well. Also, Bob Bull & Randy Scism in a new 48' MTI with 2,000hp twin turbocharged Sterlings. Have you talked to any of these guys?

Matt Trulio 07-20-2010 10:16 AM

Dave,

I had heard the same thing about Bob Bull's boat but I've yet to confirm that. I called Randy Scism of MTI last week, but we just missed each other as he was headed for the poker run on Grand Lake. But I will follow up next week. (I'm technically on vacation this week.)

I have contacted MWW, which I was told is Phenomenon's public relations representative and to which I was referred, to learn about the outfit's future plans, but I have not received a return phone call. I certainly hope that what you've heard turns out to be correct.

Speaking of Mystics. Did Rick Merola get his up and running?
Haven't heard anything.

Sounds interesting, when are they looking to publically show or run the boat?

Thanks
Jon

What drives will Don be using? Arnesons, BPMs? I think his name is spelled Onken.

Will be using Arnesons on the boat.

Wahoo ATV 07-21-2010 11:06 AM

"Don Onkan is talking about going as well in the new open-cockpit 50 we’re building for him with twin V-16 engines—I think he’s making 1,600 or 1,700 horsepower a side—but I’m not sure that his drives will be ready,” added Cosker

Why so little? They are two big blocks mounted together. You would think that 2000hp would be very doable.

I believe there whole agenda has been reliable power.
Coupled together to make the big power, but reliable as
technically four stand alone units.

Jon

Great plan, but for a speed run I would think they might want to turn them up a bit.

Just my .02

I think we all agree on that :drink:

Guess it depends on the ulitmate agenda.

Speed?

Or promoting there engine package and the perfomance
it produces in it's current state?

Should be a nice show from the sounds of the current list
of players :drink:

Dave,
We may be showing up with 2 boats.
One T55 powered, and one T53.

Hi Dave,

When I spoke with Al Jr at the Miami Boat Show last winter and discussing with him about making his record attempt in Sarasota, I gave him my opinion that I did not feel Sarasota would have been the best place to make such an attempt.

1st on my list of other best fit venues was LOTO and being as so many times boats have seen the 200+ mark there without incident, I felt it was by far better then the open waters of Sarasota.

Glad to hear Phenomenon will go to LOTO.
I just hope they have enough time to test and workout all the gremlins they have been having with their project and will be able to return with their boat 100% ready to produce a record...

All my best to you Dave !

It's great to see you still at it !!!:drink:

John,
That would be GR8! Let me know if you think you might need anything while there. Nauti Marine is open to anyone who may need our assistance ...

I still have the APBA certified kilo course marked if necessary. It's where JT and I ran the 191.469 kilo in 2001. We still use that area for testing.

Catmando 07-29-2010 01:00 PM

The best place for a record run would be one like Ken Warby used when he set his record.
