Any Old Timers still around here?
I haven't been hanging out here lately. Wondering who's still here that used to be a regular back in the old 2002-2005 days. I remember many big events that occurred within the framework of OSO. Wow, there have been drug OD's, kidnappings, car crashes, boat crashes, deaths, boat thefts, scams, outright crooks, motor builders who disappear, receding hairlines, drooping boobs, plastic surgeries, all sorts of things happened and were reported blow by blow right here on OSO. It was a real spectacle.
and I'm not saying that it no longer is like that. I've just been awol for a while and looking to catch up a bit.
Last time I was very "regular" on here was right before my marriage (and life) exploded. It was fairly traumatic for me, but it's all good. Different for sure, but good. My dog and my kids never bailed on me, and for that I am blessed. Had to reorganize my materialistic priorities and learn that "too much" can be worse than "not much". I hope to find new homes for most all of my "unecessary material assets" by the end of the year, when I'm getting married to the right girl for the right reasons at the right time. God's got a wicked sense of humor, and I sure couldn't see anything funny about it 3 yrs ago, but like I said earlier - it's all good. I'm a better guy for it.
Boating, though, has been getting harder and harder to find the time and money to enjoy for me the past few years. Divorce "changed" my financial reserves, asian outsourcing (or the tangible threat of it reflected in quote prices) "changed" my manufacturing business, and the end result is that I'm downsizing my boat collection to a jetski and a 13' Boston Whaler.
The Formula 311 is in the OSO classifieds.
The Sea Ray is going to be on a broker site by next week.
The small pieces (waverunners, ski boats, etc) are being liquidated locally.
I'm staying in manufacturing for a while to see if I can make it work with the debt load I am struggling beneath, so keep me in mind if you have something you need machined or built. If you have a great idea, and don't know where to go to get it fleshed out, holler at me. I've got 5 products in the works and don't mind trying to help you guys get your ideas off the ground as well.
For you guys who do some poker runs in the southeast, I hope to see you some this year. I won't be in a boat of my own, but I hope to make several of the events with my buddy Jimmy and his MTI.
Any other old timers got any news to report? I'm wondering what curves you've had to navigate in the past handfull of years.

Glad to see your getting through it all. Always enjoyed your
slant on things. As for this place, I'm still mostly a lurker,
but I'm sure many will be glad to see you back and will fill you in.

Good to see you stick it out and still drop a line or 20.
Miss your input in Tech, not much fun reading w/o your expertise and humor.
Good luck, and stick around, we need the good people.

Not that much of an old timer but I remember you were regular as I started becoming one.
What you've missed??? Let me try...........
-the moose that ate the cell phone
-the Rolex that wasn't
-the Troutly "how to ruin everyone you knows life"
-the Rice Hauler re-appearance
-the Big Scotty "football" player scam
-the Fred "tricked you" disappearing act
-the (alleged) wood chipped boat
-the OSO is owned by foreigners threads
have I left out anything???

Mike, glad you are back. I missed your posts. Sorry about the wife thing, but sometimes it is for the best. God has a plan even if we do or don't. Joe Murray
