28 skater New

I just purchase a 28 skater 2002 and they just started rigging it today. Can wait until it is done I and a 1993 30 cat with twin 1994 2.5 carb motors hope to see a big diffence. I just kept hearing great things about skaters. They are rigging it with new mercury 2.5 motors. hope to see speeds of around 110MPH. If anybody has any suggestion please feel free to let me know it would be greatly appeciated. I seen your skater and it look great. How does it handle th rough i heard they run better in the rough true.

good luck with new 2002 28' skater Eric and i ran his boat on sunday let me tell you. that boat handles some nice water.,but not every boat is rigged with a ballast tank and tabs and not talking about a tunnel tab. yesterday it was pretty windy out on the great south bay.We were running 100 to 105 in a good 2to3 foot chop. the boat is incredible.I thought my 28 had a great attitude. But getting back to your question it all depends on engine height, prop, wieght, fuel, and sea time. give me a call ill help you with any questions you have. I'm in bay shore good luck!

cri331,

If there is anyone out there that knows how to rig and run a Skater, especially with outboards, it's Charlie! He his a set up machine and even better on the sticks. DEFINITELY pick his brain, albeit a tiny one:p ;), he will not steer you wrong. I would say he has the FASTEST 28 Skater in the country. Best of luck with your new ride and post some picks would ya?!:D

Charlie if you have any suggestion on heights on the motors and what props you would recommend I would appreciate it. You think I can get a 110 out of the boat with 2.5's. Any preferred steering setup, everything is brand new. The guys that are doing the rigging are pretty knowledgeable on this stuff the one guy race a 28 skater a few your back with outboards great running boat. Charlie do you have a red 28 i might have see you out on the great south bay? The tabs should help a ton in the rough.Who's tabs did you use? I ran a 30 Cobra cat for a couple of years without using the tabs ever that boat ran in the high 80's not bad in the rough also.

cri331,

I think this is the boat you are referring too??? I forget the guys name, but he showed up at a run I put together last year. He seemed like a nice guy...
