Default Difference between Formula 336 and Fastech 353?

Hi!

What is the difference between Formula 336 and Formula Fastech 353 except the steps and length (handling and speed)?

I can get hold of a 1996 Formula 336 w/twin 525 SCi compressor laden engines of 490 HP each for Euro 70.000/USD 62.000.

The boat is mint condition and engines have 120 hrs on them. Advertised speed is 85 mph - sound a little fast for me...

Any experiences?

Cheers and thanks, Toffen - Norway

I had a 1992 336 Formula, the motors were 530hp naturally aspirated, top speed 82 on radar. When I looked at upgrading to a newer and bigger Formula I found that I had the same cabin room as a 353 fastech so I went on to a 382.

I have not driven a 353 but I can tell you that the 336 setup has a alot more roll to it (side to side in heavy water) than my 382 and other boats that I have driven. The 336 is a nice boat but if you can get the 353 go for it.

Good Luck

Toffen, the 336 is one of my favorite boats. As a straight vee it runs bow high which I like, handles great. 353 runs level also handles great also. Kind of like do you want a Ford or Chevy. Both nice, but different. The 336 price sounds fair. 85 mph? Maybe, but more likely low 80's,still respectable for a heavy boat that will handle rough water nicely. We have had several 336 owners trade for 353's. Some say they like the 353 better, some say they like the old boat better in rough water. It's a tradeoff, but I've never had an unhappy 336 or 353 owner. Your call ,Robert
