Enuff significance? Next to KW, it's probably the largest spectator event and definitely has the most serious hardware of any. And, if you're going to pretend to be the "World's Fastest", you definitely need to attend.
That being said, I'm glad that JBS is coming to join the fastest fleet of Skater's and MTI's on the planet. Regardless of the results, everyone is a winner for competing as far as I am concerned. I just pray for a safe event!
Talking about safety, I am opposed to the side-by-side racing on this particular course. Too narrow should something catastophic happen as evidenced by a problem JT & I had a few years ago. Could have been disastrous as the video link below shows:

there is huge significance to this even! but when it comes to the "world's fastest"; that will be decided at the SS kilo run. two totally separate events and setups.
it would not shock me to see a smaller boat with huge hp take it!!
ps....what's the take off speed this year?
