Default Technical ? converting Bravo to a #6 drive,....Input please

When converting a bravo drive to a #6 plug-in.

Does anyone know how far this will push the engine forward?

There is a certain amount of hardware your going to trade and put the tranny and tail stock in place of it.

So if anyone has knowledge of the extra space required it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jon

If converting a bravo boat I would seriously consider the arneson SD-6 conversion kit......leaves the motor in the same place and puts the transmission in an extension box.

It's been a while but I want to say it's about 12" forward.

Jon, I have an OEM Mercury installation drawings for performance products manual. The distance, along the crank centerline, from the back of the 1/4" rear motor plate to the inside of the transom on a motor with a #6 plug-in is 17 13/16". The distance from the same point on the transom to the rear of the motor on a Bravo boat is 8 1/2"

Probably because $70K just for the legs is more than the cost for a pair of a new #6 much less Arnesons! Also, good luck dealing with a company that is not longer in business.

Gary,

Haven't had a moment to call yet.

So if you subtract 8.500" from 17 13/16 then the engine is 9.3125" farthur forward correct?

Thanks to everyone else for your imput also.
