650hp and more with XR Drives

I remember a thread a while back on this, but when I do a search nothing comes up. So anyway, I am looking for some feedback from real experiences with 650 plus hp with xr drives. I am a bit concerned with my current set up of KE 675 with XR drives in a 37 ft boat that I am guessing all decked out with fuel, water and my fat ass about 10,500 to 11,000 lbs. Looking for some of your experiences. The post of Dennis on his experience with his Nortech and xr drives was one of those "things that make you go hmmmmm." I still have time to do something(maybe) but want some real life experiences. Nothing will make me more mad than to be puking drives and ruin my summer. :(

Oh yeah, if you are running this hp or more and not using xr drives, what are you using and what have your results been?

Honstly Dan, I have no experience, but why don't you talk to the B-Max folks and rpm about your specific application, and see what they think. A stand up company, which it appears both of them are, will tell you what you need, even if it is not their product.

dan ,

i assume your running an outer limits. the biggest problem is getting on plane. that put's the most stress on the drives. if your good about that and get on plane softly you should be ok. those other guy;s are having problems because they have another 13 ft to push out of the water. your boat is perfext size. if you went larger then i would say change the drives.

sydwayz,

Thanks for the suggestions.

close enough,

both very good boats. remember the key is getting on plane. that's were all the damage is done. you should be fine otherwise. good luck with the boat. ever have any prob's let me know.

Treadwell,

Thanks, I will let you know if I do have any problems. Egg Harbor twp, I am down that way at least once a week.

Dan,
I may not be that qualified to answer your question, but I think you know I have been running XR's on my boat (32'A/T) with about 630hp and 625 ft pounds of torque @ 5400-5500rpm with 50 hours of running time and no issues thus far. Rod from RPM made a recent post in one of the "XR" threads and listed several boats running the XR drives WITHOUT any problems. As he listed them he wrote the Make, Length and Power that these boats had using the XR drives---I wouldn't sweat it too much if I were you. Just go easy out of the hole and I'm quite sure you'll be fine. I'd enjoy seeing that boat run with those 675's in it---you're going to have a lot of fun.

We presently work on the Bravo I XR drives on Kevin Erem's Team Outlaw Factory II raceboat. A 37 Active Thunder I think he would be the man to talk to about your situation.

I will try and get in touch with him. Has he had problems?
