Out of curiosity how many boats did their "#1 Salesperson" sell in 2008?.....

Legend told me they had 5 boats left and that Donzi only had 20 boats at dealers in the US. He also said the factory had sold all the stock boats they had and were building sold boats only.

2008 models only lasted until May at Baja, and I don't know any Donzi numbers. At least Donzi, Sunsation, and Checkmate are building a few performance boats. I never thought that I would see the day Checkmate would be outselling Baja....but they are.

XT- , it would be interesting to know the number of total boats produced in Bucyrus, Ohio from Checkmate and Baja. Checkmate probably manufactured more boats then Baja from the early 60s to the late 80s. Then I'm sure Baja way out paced CM in the 90s up to the point they shut the factory down. Any idea of how many boats were built by Baja in their biggext year?

Cheers-

I had a sheet somewhere that had the number of certain models built, but it wasnt an entire history.

When you say "how many boats were built by Baja" does that include the Sea Rays we built or just Bajas? We were knocked out a ton of the 175/185s plus the weekenders.

Dontain is probably more correct since it is Donzi's parent company that now owns Fountain. A tribute to Don.

Oh, and Baja is Donja.

I hope Donzi makes it a point to call the Fountains, FOUNTAIN By Donzi.

I still throw up a little when I see the Baja By Fountain logo.

Basically, Liberty Investments owns the brands and their plants, most of them anyway. Liberty is no different than Brunswick or Genmar, in that they owned multiple brands as well. Donzi no more owns Fountain than Mercury owns Bayliner.

I think both Proline and Baja offer a lot for the future, and I personally think Baja's are better now than before. If they are careful with overlapping models, it's not a bad lineup.
