Fill those drives from the bottom drain plug or you will HAVE a big problem. Trust me on that. I've been doing that drive since it was frist introduced at Mercury back in the late 60's. I worked with that drive since day one. Any questions call me at; 954 237 0332 and ask for John,

I got the yellow 28 Pantera in Maryland. went and picked it up Monday. We are taking it to Cumberland in the morning, sure hope it doesn't strand me somewhere. You change your mind on Cumberland, I know you said you weren't going.

3 and 3A's are not interchangable. 3A's have bigger prop shafts. They hold 2 1/2 gallons of fluid. The recommended fluid is Merc HP Gear lube. Finding props is a bigger challenge. They take a 19 spline small shaft and there are not alot to choose from.

Always fill drives from the bottom or you could (will) have air pockets.

3 & 3a's will both fit on the same gimbal ..only the 3 a has a larger propshaft and #5 gears in it .
Garry Kollofski is manufacturing the parts again. U can buy adapters for #5-6 props to fit on the 19 spline #3 shaft. I agree on the filling. |

I believe they make adapters for them, so they can fit all the VISSM props.
The adapters are $400 each. Then you get to buy the more affordable #6 props. :) At least there are a lot of choices in the #6 prop market! |
Good luck with that I was going to look at that boat in April but i made an offer on a 10 meter fountain and the guy took it. It looks like a great boat wish you lots of luck. My 10 meter has three's and it runs great.
