New Smyrna Florida boating advice
We live in Tampa Bay area but traveling to Orlando area next weekend to visit with friends and thinking about taking boat along. Closest beach too them is New Smyrna. I did a little bit of web searching and people talk about disappearing island but not even sure where that is. Not looking for crazy speed runs, but some chill boating. Anyone live or boat in that general area have any advice for places to go, things to do and ramps?

Disappearing Islands is good on weekends, it is directly inside Ponce Inlet (inlet separates Daytona from New Smyrna. Back side is navigatible and ideal to stay away from boat wakes.
Boat ramps at Port Orange or Halifax Harbour in Daytona. Halifax has fuel, 5-6 ramps, fresh water for flushing and even an onsite West Marine store. Both ramps are on the ICW. Nice day trip is to take ICW north to St Augustine, very few no wake zones (one long one right in Daytona, like 1 mile+). You can make St Augustine in an hour or so.
Channel markers don't lie, I have bumped ground in a 15 Whaler 10 feet outside a channel. Water is dark, not great visibility. ICW is wide open, be on the look out for manatees and dolphins, they are everywhere.
