cigarette mistress question

i am really thinking about buying this mistress that i looked at over the weekend .it would be my first cigarette . it has been recently surveyed and no moisture in the boat acording to the paper work . the thing i am not sure about is the floor in cock pit area move a little when i walk on it. is like that in all the mistress or is this one just rotted to ****. oh yeah i didnt have the survey done the seller did but seems very honest and trust worthy

I would have it rechecked. Movement in the floor would make me nervous.

always have your own survey done . . . . always. Floor should not move as you describe, its a plywood cored piece and known to go bad.

You can probably expect to pay about $10-15/foot. I believe thats what we found about 3 yrs ago.

Is the boat in the greater Cleveland area? Like CigRocket said, some one probably knows of it? Also, Greg Group is a good surveyor to use if you buying,....... :)

Where does the floor feel soft? I can go out and walk around on mine and see if I can feel some "give" in a particular place.

It felt soft a little on the port side towards the bench and on the starbord side where u get in thanks for your help

cigrocket 10-05-2010 07:06 AM

Lift up the rug if it has a snap in one. My mistress had compartments in the floor for storage.......or drug smuggling. They were on the sides in front of the bench, this was on a 1985. It made the floor feel different, but it was solid as a rock. Post a picture, there was a few mistresses in your area that have some history if I remember correctly. You may want to ask.

I would not suggest taking your mistress out in a Cigarette, unless it is late at night and no one who knows your wife is at the marina.

I have removed the bench altogether in mine (going to rebuild it out of welded AL tubing), so I walked around on the port side aft. If I jump around, there is a little bit of "give" but I hear and feel a slight "bump" where it feels the floor is contacting something intermittently, almost like the floor is right above the stringer but not touching until I jump on it. The starboard side does not have this feature.

The hatches cigrocket refers to, on both of mine, have the same feeling. When you open them, you can see the portion that is unsupported.

There are a couple drain holes back under the bench on both sides. They have a metal ferrule thats glued in. You could try to see if those are loose and if the wood around them is rotted. If water was collecting back there, it would find it's way into the core either through those holes or maybe thru the anchor hold down brackets (not sure if that was factory or PO) that are under the bench (at least on mine).

Best of luck. Randy

After reading T2X's comment I had to add this. I went to my ins. agent to ins. my new 24' BANANA boat in 1980. He called a underwriter and told him what I had... the guy went nuts! and told us of a previous claim, a guy was out running high speed on a lake with a Cig and had his MISTRESS ( a woman) distraction him, boat ran off the lake into a house - KILLING the guy sleeping in his own bed & killed 2 on the Cig. Explains why ins. rates are what they are. "HIGH LIFE"
