Lunch w/ STATEMENT MARINE!
3 Attachment(s)
A beautiful day down in Tampabay, and what made it better is the phone call I got from Nick, to come down to the ramp at lunch time to test out the Statement 50 Cat. So I get there and ask what are we testing out now? New Ventilators, ok what was wrong with the one's that were in the boat now? Nothing but we want to try bigger holes, so we had 2" holes now we put in 5'' ventilation holes. We want to see if the release of more air will work. Well we went out and tested the new vents. Now I have been on the boat at least 5 times first person to do 180mph on it, and thought it drove great then, but now it was amazing how a 3" bigger hole to 5" vent the air out made that boat ride. From start off to 30 mph straight as an arrow 60 to 100 to 160 the boat ran great and even coming off plain. It's amazing the release of the air breaks the suction when coming on plain and off. Got some cool pictures will post them up.

Just loaded another clip of us crusing around 164mph, and you see how the boat handles . Look at the driver's hand on the wheel, like we were going for a sunday drive down the intercoastel.

Bad ass! they look sick!

We have vented a few cats in the notches at the transom. One outboard cat could barely plane off before we put four 1" holes in the notch for vents. Then it took off like a drag boat with the water released. The 50' Statement is simply an incredible machine.

What are vents, and where are they located? Whats the purpose of them?

And what happens they act like a vacume and hold the back of the boat down, when they made them bigger it let more air in the holes in the back of the boat and vented out the hole under the boat in the last pictue you can see the holes above the propshaft. The air is sucked backwards. Hope it helps don't know if I explained it correct. |
I could be wrong but thought they are used to vent air to the props when taking off to reduce the bow lift?

on holdIng the ass down. I will let the pros describe it better.I'm just learning about this myself. |
Vents are simply running a hole (fitting) with a hose on the bottom of the boat to somewhere above the water line to release the vaccum of the water sticking to the bottom of the boat in a place it should not be. I usually run the hoses inside the boat hiding yet above the water line. I have heard of some race boats that have experimented with vents in the notches of the step bottoms.

In the first post the third photo there is a very large vent hole in the top of the rather large pocket at the transom. That pocket can be very diffucult to over come as it fills with water and wants to stick the hull to the water surface while planning off. Venting cures that.
